After watching ep 5:I suddenly thought of an epic twist by which Junik could indeed have been a ...
... spy: What if his entire family---or at least the women---are North Korean spies that had been tasked decades ago with the longterm mission to someday produce a South Korean president, so that he can facilitate the NK takeover of SK? Maybe there's more to why only the women remain in that family... What if the mistress whas the NK spy Junik was supposed to marry, but then he fell in love with Munju over how she fought for a peaceful reunion? He convinced his family somehow that marrying her would be advantageous and secretly started working for the same goal too. That’s why he left all his assets to Munju; because he knew and wanted her to run for president in his stead.
That would make his mother the prime canditate for Stella, while the mistress is working under her. What a nice way to get NK military equipment without anyone noticing...! And at the same time, it would give the family the necessary funds to participate in politics. But that would also mean, the submarine is very much real... It’s first target then however aren’t the states, but SK... That would also explain why China had no interest in talking to Mrs. President; they were almost about to be rid of the bigest watchdog in front of Beijing's gates.

I couldn't help but laugh out loud at that perfectly crafted statement letter. ChatGPT couldn't have done it any better! (<- this is sarcasm, just to be crystal clear) So many pretty words with absolutely zero content, lol (Except a few hidden threats and accusations, like others have pointed out...) I stands out even more compared to Zhao Lusi's statements.
Srsly, anyone with two braincells can tell that company has no spine whatsoever.
And ARP ....you are HOT in that hairstyle....HOT like 40 degree fever. ❤️
I keep eying this drama every now and then since the day it came out. The novelty of the premise, Song Weilong and Liu Hao Cun, the OST (can't go wrong with Liu Yuning!), ... But I can't deal with horror/thriller, esp. jump scares, heavy suspense, and visually apalling stuff... So, until now, I didn't dare to give it a try. T.T
But just now, I realised that ARP, whose shows I'm currently watching right now to fill the hours between Coroner's diary, is in here too!
So, I'd love to get your opinions: - What are the thriller and suspense tags about? Will I have any nails left if I watch it? - How much in danger of getting SML syndrome am I?
The worst trope for meIs the underwater kiss which this one didn’t have and for that, I was ever so grateful…
I can see your point there... I'm good at turning off my logical brain if I'm served enough other goodies 😂 plus, they're usually just one scene if done nice cinematographically, i can deal with them... XD but if they fake it with those wind machines.... those have me roll my eyes too XD
So recently there's been this trend with both K and C dramas where the ML will do the most HORRENDOUS thing to…
Also crossing my fingers that there is more to the story, here. Bc otherwise... /shakes head Actually, when I watched the scene, I felt like I remembered that in season 1 we were shown that her mother's death was connected to the enemies that JCY is fighting. And that JCY knows this, but wanted to prevent Mu Dan taking on the path of revenge. Hence he didn't tell her, and now has that uncle tell her only a half-truth... But it's a very hazy memory. Maybe it's also from another drama... Does anyone else remember something like this from s1?
Bai zhi qian sun du! I will remember the pattern from now because this drama introduces me to many Chinese phrases…
Oh, would you mind explaining it to me and where exactly this one was said? I'm always eager to improve my Chinese. And doing it with dramas is my second pleasant way of doing so (first is travelling XD). Plus it adds that extra little bit of salt to the drama that you simply miss with just the eng subs... So, please? ☺️🙏
That mother sure is talented. Befriends every single shady character in the vicinity, immediately spills any politically delicate knowledge she has at the first chance she gets, and always manages to say the most tactless things. That's got to be a talent. I almost pity her.
This is only my speculation; I haven't read the novel. So, I'm not marking this as a spoiler. But I wouldn't be surprised if that disaster 14 years ago that led to the animosity between Wei and Qiao was caused by a third party (cough, Bianzhou and that annoying uncle, cough) which wanted to prevent Wei and Qiao forming too powerful of an alliance...
I am really struggling to understand what u r saying...
Love you for that recommendation! 💞 I just binge-watched it in two days lol You wouldn't happen to have more of those recommendations? 🙈🤭
I think I need to re-evaluate my opinion on short dramas. Some of them are really good, I noticed. Good, well-paced storywriting with some substance and realistic characters, nice music, and most importantly, none of that over-the-top, dramatic acting that made me stay away from them so far. Instead we get realistic acting with a lot less standardised or cut scenes. I hope they keep them coming and that they manage to stay under the radar from the censorship office!

Yes, like @HotGeGesWife said, the OP meant to say that the drama was dropped without much advertisement, announcements, or hype (=fanfare) about it that she/he was aware of. But despite the "silent drop", it already made it onto the list of "new uploaded episodes" on k i s s k h (a website). That list is on the website's home page and works like a banner, hence "front banner".
(I can't see how the OP's English is bad though, correct grammar and everything and nuanced choice of words. Just the missing "kh" after "kiss", which is probably the reason for the confusion.)
By the way, I'm totally with the OP! This show came out of nowhere for me and I'm loving it!! Wonderful acting, screenwriting and oh, the fewer censorship restrictions are simply a blessing! I couldn't bring myself to watch the currently airing full-length productions (Love in Pavilion, Love Never Fails, Serendipity, etc.)--the same tropes for the billionth time over... Instead, I'm addicted to this one and Dominion and Devotion, now XD If anyone has recommendations for similar shows, I'd love to hear them!
I need to say this, because not enough people are, and it’s frustrating to watch a show like this go underappreciated.…
My thoughts exactly! I love this drama for being different! I like me a no-brain-fluff-fluff show too sometimes, but unique gems like this one are the reason I continue watching dramas.
I love the story-writing and characterisation here. The fact that it wasn't the ML (and the FL's love for the ML), but Ah Zhi that saved Hanyan from her revenge-abyss by evoking the parallels to her own mother's story? That was brilliant story-writing! And Hanyan's wardrobe! I could watch this show simply for her costumes! 😍 She wears them like the queen she is!

I like my clichés, but that one I just can't deal with. All it does, is make the drama repeat itself... 😑
also thank you regarding duolingo. it is on my want-to-try-list. just unfortunately that list is quie long ahaha
I'm still traumatised from Journey to Love and The Story of Pearl Girl! 😭
