Slice Of Life Rom-Com For The Quarter Life Crisis
As somebody who prefers to watch action and crime series, Kemono ni Narenai Watashitachi (2018) was a pleasant intro to slice-of-life rom-coms. It is a tale of how our protagonist Akira struggles with the demands of a toxic workplace with her relationship with her long-term boyfriend falling apart due to his indecision. A very relatable plot about youngish adults struggling to face their fears head-on is completed by cinematography that sets up beautiful moments of serendipity. While the acting is definitely over the top, I enjoyed the performances of Aragaki Yui, Matsuda Ryuhei and Tanaka Kei. The soundtrack is also one of the best I have heard in a while. Strong recommend
