This one surprised me. I found the story interesting and the slow unraveling of connection was good. I had to overlook the obvious, AI generated scenes, etc. But I found the acting really good.

Most people don’t like spoilers or to read the last chapter of a book. In the case of the last few episodes of Payback, I waited to watch and read the comments as the series ended. I read mixed reviews about the ending, different thoughts on how the revenge should have been delivered to those who were evil. Most were sad the series was done.

.Overall, this series still is one of my favourites of 2026. It’s dark, but like the main character’s name, it is ultimately about the light. Friendship. Love. Redemption. Payback wasn’t perfect, but I still was riveted by it. Re-watching episodes for a second and sometimes third time. I too am sad its over.

There is so much about this series that I like and equally dislike. A solid like is the series title is spot on and Episode 6 proved it….Little Jane is too emotional over everything, and he breaks his relationship in two and the big sea of regret is coming. I really dislike series with lame titles which have nothing to do with the plot.

My biggest dislike thus far are the supernatural elements of the series (e.g. blood oaths, and the question is big Jane a demon or an angel or is it just metaphorical? This could have been so good. But we are half way through the series with zippo explanation of who Big Jane really is and I worry they will rush it in the end. The side characters don’t offer up much to like….I hope there is some point to them on the back 9 of the series. For now I am pondering where oh where did Big Jane go and am thinking Little Jane doesn’t deserve his fine ass.

At episode 8 and I have to say I wish that by now both Sun and Jay would have progressed their relationship further because both clearly need healing. It is what it is. But with only two episodes left I dread a rushed ending. I love everything else about this series. Revenge plots and broken characters are excellent fodder for good drama. I am hopeful for villains getting their just desserts and our main characters finding some peace and happiness. Also….whoever selected the music for this series…brilliant….Disiac’s “Do You” absolutely perfect 👌
