Definitively a great drama, no just a BL, but a series about friendship, family relationship, first love, emotions and grow up, very well-portrayed by all actors, especially the Chinzilla band and Fourth/Gemini pairing . With an amazing and refreshing OST. A little gem I'll re-watch with pleasure for sure.

Tout le monde a les yeux rivés sur Bed Friend mais pour moi, le poids lourd des sorties cette semaine, c'est ce drama. Un très bon premier épisode qui laisse présager de très chouettes moments de visionnage. Hâte de voir la suite.
Everyone has their eyes glued to Bed Friend but for me, the heavyweight of the releases this week is this drama. A very good first episode which suggests very nice moments of viewing. Can't wait to see more.

In France, we have since 2019 a law prohibiting ordinary educational violence (for example, parents can no longer spank their children). This is why the vision of a father beating his adult son is intolerable to us. And the fact that it's accepted by everyone in the end doesn't please us. I agree with you, violence is also frequently sexual in BL or hetero dramas under the guise of romanticism as you say. While it would be necessary to take advantage of the dramas visible to all to denounce this. The road will be long in Asia.

Just a note: everyone talks about Xu An's father but Bail Lang's sister punched him twice in the stomach when she found out and patted him on the back at the wedding rehearsal. I have the impression that the violence of seniors towards their juniors is habitual and commonplace. The West has a hard time understanding this (in how many dramas, BL or not, young people are beaten?), me too who doesn't hit my children (it wouldn't occur to me). I understand the frustration of many with such a quick end that leaves us hungry. so many unresolved story arcs and important topics coming to the end of the series. Unfortunately, if there had been a season 2 planned, we would not have had episode 12 as it was filmed. If I think of WBL, the whole of the two seasons is well worth a season of MTYL with the same problem. At the beginning, the acceptance of love on the part of the non-homosexual partner then the arrival of the spoilsport, the father with the setting aside of the lover of his son who accepts!! Here, it's the same thing, the homosexual son exposes himself to the violence of the father to live an accepted love. And as in WBL, the secondary couples are little or not treated, the 3rd is only revealed during the marriage proposal. Both series are quite similar in cast and treatment. I think the director had the material to do more but unfortunately couldn't/want/had the opportunity to do more (better?). The great luck of MTYL is the good atmosphere, the excellent understanding between the two leads who are real friends in life, the possibility for the actors to propose a different vision of the script and the director who films very well. Even if we complain about the end, it's a great series, mature and relatively realistic and that's why we are frustrated!
Juste une remarque : tout le monde parle du père de Xu An mais la soeur de Bail Lang lui a donné deux coups de poing dans le ventre quand elle a su et l'a tapé sur le dos à la répétition du mariage. J'ai l'impression que la violence des seniors envers leurs juniors est habituelle et monnaie courante. L'Occident a bien du mal à comprendre cela (dans combien de dramas, BL ou non, les jeunes sont battus ?), moi aussi qui ne frappe pas mes enfants (cela ne me viendrait pas à l'idée). Je comprends la frustration de beaucoup avec une fin si rapide qui laisse sur notre faim. tellement d'arcs narratifs non résolus et des sujets importants qui arrivent en fin de série. Malheureusement, s'il y avait eu une saison 2 de prévue, nous n'aurions pas eu l'épisode 12 tel qu'il a été filmé. Si je pense à WBL, l'ensemble des deux saisons vaut bien une saison de MTYL avec la même problématique. Au début, l'acceptation de l'amour de la part du partenaire non homosexuel puis l'arrivée du trouble-fête, le père avec la mise de côté de l'amoureux de son fils qui accepte !! Ici, c'est la même chose, le fils homosexuel s'expose à la violence du père pour vivre un amour accepté. Et comme dans WBL, les couples secondaires sont peu ou pas traités, le 3è n'est révélé que lors de la proposition de mariage. Les deux séries sont assez similaires dans le casting et dans le traitement. Je pense que le réalisateur avait le matériel pour faire plus mais malheureusement n'a pas pu/voulu/eu l'opportunité de faire plus (mieux ?). La grande chance de MTYL est la bonne ambiance, l'excellente entente entre les deux leads qui sont de vrais amis dans la vie, la possibilité pour les acteurs de proposer une vision différente du script et du réalisateur qui filme super bien. Même si nous récriminons contre la fin, c'est une super série, mature et relativement réaliste et c'est pour cela que nous sommes frustrés !

A special episode, yes ! But Bai Lang and Xu An gave rings to each other. The Bai Lang sister got married so I don't think we'll have it.
I don't want to crucify you, just moderate your words because I really appreciate this show so much. But I'm little frustated too, especially for the story of Alex & RJ.

I completely understand you. I think the director had material for additional episodes and the two last episodes have not enough time to give solutions for all subjects. And the director must follow the planned schedule because he uses internet plateformes. I would have preferred a season 2 to clarify all the issues and take time to explore all storyline aspects. I'll admit that my favorite episode is 9. The series could have ended there. That was enough for me :-) I hope I didn't offend you with my messages. Have a good night (it's night in France).

You really appreciate 10 episodes so it's not waste of time. Even if it lacks the resolution of many issues or stories, this series is a very good one because of subject and quality of acting and direction. A drama, BL or not, can't be always a fairytale, without rough issues or hard life moments. Tout n'est pas tout beau tout rose dans la vie ! It's good if the storyline is more realistic than usual. And it's just a story like a novel, it's a creation so a few elements of the story can be differents than in our mind. The power of imagination from writer, director and actors.

MTYL is such a beautiful journey. Some stories (for example Alex & RJ) are not finished and I regret it but this series is so interesting by many aspects : love and self-seeking, family and work, weight of tradition and open-mindedness. We are so lucky to have been able to come a long way with characters. Thank you so much to all the team, especially actors and director and thank you all for your comments here. I feel I'm not alone to speak and think about MTYL thanks to you. I'm sad it's over now. I was thinking it could be a season two but the episode 12's end closes the story for me. Ps : Andy Wu and Yu Jin are so lovely, hope they'll have many others projects in the future. Without forgetting the smile of the actor who plays RJ, so cute.
