Yeah he started off pretty well in Maiden Holmes, and since then his acting has improved steadily. The criticisms to his acting are from people who expect a lot more, people who dislike him (some are jealous of his popularity, and of different fandoms), and people who have different opinions (since not everyone can agree on what is considered as "good acting").
But I do think he needs to take on harder projects and challenge himself more. He has potential but he needs difficult roles.

curious to know your thoughts after watching him! I personally think he's good, he acts with his eyes more and his acting in Our Generation (particularly in the last couple of episodes) is great~

I have been following this page and reading every comment here over the past 2 weeks (especially over the past 3 days), fully expecting to dislike this drama... but I actually like it! HAHAHA it reminds me of TVB dramas, which I used to watch when I was younger

Hmm I have been reading about it, but did not follow too closely. From what I read, it seems like LYX's manager supported (?) an account that wrote abusive and fabricated posts about ZLH so some fans are against them working tgt.

So yeah I kiiiiinda get why they are unhappy with it but at the same time, this is too extreme (again, I don't know the whole story).

Hence with some ZLH fans being so against LYX, other groups are fuelling this battle even more, which leads to a very tiring situation where the hatred increases by them dragging the actor/actress down (like what the OP is doing rn) and spreading hate everywhere... :')

This is a great show so far. I enjoy how complex each character is! Especially the FL, ML, and even 2ML!! I'm super glad that I wasn't turned off by the comments here :DD

ikr I think he is pretty good too!!! There are many Reddit posts talking about overrated actors and him in general and a lot of the comments are just bashing his acting like wtf

I'm currently watching The Princess Royal and he's good there as well so I'm confused ><

same here, I thought the first few episodes were pretty cringe but the HK plot is very solid

tbh I dont get why ppl (Reddit especially) hate ZLH's acting cos I think he was pretty good here - he did not exaggerate and he acted very naturally in this drama

Omg yes I can't stand the FL too, and I think Bona's acting made whatever flaws the FL has 10 times worse with her wide-eyed fish acting style

Am I the only one who preferred the parents' backstories? Episodes 1-7 really bored me to tears (except for the scenes with Frank) since it was moving soooo slowly. But I'm glad that I held on to the end though

Disappointing and rushed endings are the common theme of 2022 K-dramas...

Many people couldn't look past her baby face, her so-called immaturity, her aegyo (due to cultural differences most likely), and the times when she wore her high school uniform. If only they could just read between the lines and give credit to her ability to maintain a bright and cheerful personality despite her traumatic childhood (which is a brilliant showcase of her maturity), their relationship dynamic would be much easier to understand. One is innocent but mature, the other is mature but innocent.
Besides, I never really cared about their age gap since it was a meeting of two traumatized souls... until I read the discussions. Even if she was a university student, people would still complain (eg. My Roommate is a Gumiho). If she was an adult, the story wouldn't make sense since she was bound to blow out fire/candles at some earlier point in her life along with meeting a grim reaper at x9 years old. Their relationship was a turn-off for many, hence why the drama is not fully appreciated, which is fine but it's kinda sad that the ratings have dropped (from 9.0 a few years ago to 8.8 now).

Yeah, the ML did not manipulate her due to her young age in the first place. He thought the bride would just pull out the sword + his life would have ended without further development (romantically speaking) in their relationship in the beginning. Hence I don't think there was grooming/pedophilia involved... it's strange that so many people think that way. Honestly, I am okay with age gap relationships in media as long as it is portrayed as a healthy/innocent one with mutual consent and no manipulation involved.
Btw your point on Asian vs western women is correct hahaha you're right, Asian girls/women are generally more cutesy than westerners somehow but I guess that was more of a cultural difference thing when so many ppl were put off by her "immature" behavior while my friends and I (Asian) found it cute hahaha

Agreed. Their relationship is fine since they're both adults + there were no disturbing scenes. Then there are those saying that ET behaved like a 12 y/o just because she's cheerful and energetic (which does not mean that she's immature). She is really strong while having gone through so much pain in her life while suffering from abuse from her aunt. Besides, it's fantasy anyway so what's up with all the extremist comments below on "pedophilia" and "grooming"?? It's not like they had a sexual relationship at that period of time anyway.
