I am thinking the bad guy behind the scenes is either the uncle or nan rui. The uncle either faked his death and sent the assassins after song yimeng so she wont interfere with uncles plans for nan heng in the future or its nan rui but the king already made him inherit crown princeā¦so what would his reason be ā¦.just cause he hates nan heng cause maybe heās emperorās favorite ( as twisted as that may sound?) what other reason could he possibly have. I guess ensuring his position as crown prince. Lets not forget the tower scene is still going to occur but who will the one holding yimeng hostage?

I am confusedā¦why are people mad at the FL. When she found out nan hengās identity she ran back to warn him that they were there to arrest himā¦and this was right after she stormed out on him Which shows regardless of how mad she is at him, her instinct now is to protect him. Give the girl a bit to processā¦she literally has to recalibrate everything she knows now cause he was too scared to be honest with her and actually with the way he was goingā¦if sheās wasnt going to put the effort to test him he would have never told her the truth
