I thoroughly enjoyed this drama! As a reflection to us of relationship dynamics, neither character are one dimensional, layers exist within them. Perhaps one has to watch closely for the nuances of who Luke really is as a person. His strong ego can truly get the best of him and sometimes what he says ends up shooting him in the foot, yet there are so many actions and gestures on his part that speak to care, kindness, a gentleness, vulnerability and softness that live in his heart, under the blunt exterior that is more visible at times. He certainly has some missteps in his choices, yet he does listen and incorporates other’s viewpoints about the way he is in the relationship. He becomes more aware…that line in one of the episodes where he says “how did I become the person I hate the most” is quite revealing. Flora too says things that don’t speak to the truth of their relationship.
Their dynamic is interesting to observe. They each make decisions that either help or harm, foster or inhibit their relationship. We can feel the core of love is present, yet might get lost/overshadowed by the aspects of their personalities that rise up and don’t serve the ultimate growth of the relationship. Certainly things to learn and things to let go of in their quest to deepen their bond.
The symbolism and metaphors added to our watch. Episode 19 gave us the higher potential that existed for the two of them if they allowed it to be so and didn’t close down again.
We might choose to overanalyze this drama and point out the different things that seem to corrupt and derail it all. As well, as a mirror of our own dance of life, this isn’t about putting one’s head in the sand and ignoring what is.
I chose to watch it from my heart in all its multilayered starts and stops, with all their stumbling and flourishing choices, as they navigated themselves through their story of love and togetherness.
