I keep hearing that this drama has a HE but it looks like the opposite with the OST. I sure hope it’s happy. So far the storyline is interesting. I’m waiting for new episodes every day!
This drama is so fast paced! I’m not complaining, it keeps it interesting with all the plot twists. The leads along with the other supporting actors/actresses are portraying their characters so well!
I've read somewhere that the CEO of IQIYI was involved in this production. That's huge! From the BTS, it looks like they've all worked so hard. Wishing for this drama's success! And please don't make us cry like in Fangs of Fortune.
Ready to kick off the excitement, which starts at 6 pm tomorrow in China! (Update: We're only hours away! )
Here are four fundamental facts about “Key To The Phoenix Heart”:
1) From the time of this drama being registered for filming, filming taking place and wrapping on 5 November 2025, followed by post-production editing and submission to NRTA + obtaining airing license = Approximately one year. NRTA has checked every scene and approved KTTPH’s airing license on 6 February 2026, within less than 3 months of submission. How many historical costume dramas get approval so quickly?
Approval granted so quickly and smoothly within less than three months for a costume drama signifies strong institutional approval of what the production team has created with the cast, led by Hou Minghao and Ai Mi. If someone believes NRTA is wrong to approve this drama in any way: You have to watch every scene in KTTPH, and then go to NRTA website and use their query form to submit your opinion.

2) Since 25 July 2025 more than a year ago, I started a forum thread summarizing the production and praising people on the production team, such as the Director and Screenwriter whose skills I respect and trust. I also said there won't be PDA.
The one kiss you might see is a forehead kiss. That's it.
If someone claims “Rebirth” and “Key to The Phoenix Heart” have disastrous similarities, the production team for “Key To The Phoenix Heart” is led by seasoned veterans, completely unlike the director and screenwriter for “Rebirth”.
Director Gao Yijun has signature similarities to Director Yuen Woo-ping given their Hong Kong backgrounds in movies, when it comes to filming battle scenes or combat scenes:
Live pyrotechnics and explosions, extended long-take sequences unless there is no choice (both directors despise green screens), equestrian training for different horseback battles or combat scenes happening across various landscape scenarios. Yuen Woo-ping likes deserts, Gao Yijun likes cliffs, etc
Gao Yijun works best with epic sets for historical dramas, and also insists on attention to details such as costumes, which will be best demonstrated by Hou Minghao and Ai Mi. Older viewers would remember his dramas, such as “Prince Of The Han Dynasty” and “The Empress of China”.
Sun Mengfei has a strong martial arts background and is a veteran Action Director for “Bodyguards and Assassins”, “General And I”, “Choose The Right Path”, “Heaven Sword And Dragon Saber”, “Water Margin”, etc . You will see some of the best fight choreography in a drama that should be in movies, due to Sun Mengfei working with Gao Yijun.
Screenwriter Wu Mengzhang is well-experienced in plot arrangements and complexities, having been responsible for the likes of “The Song of Glory” and “A Beautiful Lie”. As the main screenwriter for “Key To The Phoenix Heart”, he has also won awards such as Best Screenplay at the 24th Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards for “God of War”.

3) Hou Minghao and Ai Mi have been professionals about “Key To The Phoenix Heart”, ever since they worked together in several scenes for “Fangs of Fortune”. Hou Minghao’s first impression in that experience was the strength of her acting “completely infecting” him, and he was very confident that she would be able to embody bigger and more complex roles in a deserving manner.
“Fangs of Fortune” was filmed from October 2023 to February 2024.
“…我听说是艾米来演谢嘉鱼, 我当时就非常的开心。我也非常替她而感到高兴-”
On 20 April at IQiyi World Conference, Hou Minghao said when he first heard Ai Mi was cast as Xie Jiayu, he was very happy. And he was also very happy for her. What he said can be understood along the lines of:
“I remember… Once I learned it was her (alluding to Ai Mi being cast as Xie Jiayu), I was very happy. Although we did not have many scenes together in ‘Fangs of Fortune’, but it just so happened that these scenes comprised her emotional outbursts, and we were in the scenes together… When I saw that intensity on set, I thought ‘Wow, her acting is very good! If in future she encounters fuller and richer characters, she will definitely carry them well.’ So once I heard this time she was Xie Jiayu, my heart became mostly at ease and Wow! This time it will be a very good presentation (referring to her acting)!”
Ai Mi has been all praises for Hou Minghao, be it his singing or his acting. She praised his wonderful melodious voice, and said when she is on-set and doing scenes with him, she has peace of mind because of him. Every time they shoot scenes together, she can feel great emotions from him, hence she is subconsciously brought into the necessary by him. He also has very expressive eyes.
The leads are all about professionalism and how they improve each other's acting. The entire cast is here to act and captivate us! Looking forward to their performances!
~*~ Enjoy “Key To The Phoenix Heart! Have fun!~ ~
4) More than a million reservations for "Key To The Phoenix Heart" has happened on IQiyi. People on this page who enjoy the drama: Please note that killjoys are a minority, not a majority.
Please also note that some harbour dubious intentions, because they don't want another actor as a general to overshadow another actor being the general they favour.
There was a forum thread on another MDL drama page boasting about inflating that drama's ratings, but it got deleted by those who started it.
Personally, go support the general that you want. Don't be on the wrong page. If you want to support different generals, wonderful!
If you have doubts, consider watching. We can be civil. If you don't watch, that's fine too :)

I hope you don't mind that I just reposted this above. I gave you credit. Please Let me know if it's NOT ok. This is well said and put together, especially for those who are not informed of how things work within the industry and for this particular production.
🐱: “You have to watch Kttph tomorrow!”https://x.com/ncybear/status/2075488542348947653?t=-cx48aWx6QRTYYrzr7R51A&s=19https://x.com/ncybear/status/2075490066336821295?t=2Y5oANG0ae6lXEbRigqJmw&s=19He’s…
but i’ll be really sad for unfinished stories 🥲😭 i hope they don’t torture us with end of season cliffhangers…
I know we're all going to hate this concept. If this is the case, won't it mean they won't even film part 2 until it's commissioned? In that case, the artist's schedule might conflict when they pick up other projects?
