Can someone enlighten me as to why most viewers hated this season? I know I’m late to the party, but I binge-watched…
As someone who is about to watch season 2, I think I could start answering your questions soon. My guess as of now would be: the long wait inbetween seasons. You got to binge-watch season 1 and 2 back to back, but as someone who watched season 1 while it initially aired (having read the webtoon too), season 2 had a lot of expectations surrounding it. Perhaps too great of expectations.
some of y'all are too emotional about this show which is what you keep accusing KH and SH for. it's okay to be…
A bit late to the conversation, but I'm on a rewatch currently, so I felt like adding my 2 cents. It's a bit ironic to call others emotionally attached when your comments mirror the same emotional tone seen in other comments. That aside, people didn't enjoy Hyungu's hypocricy. Don't get me wrong, it's fair game to push people around and use alliances to your benefit, it's the "devil's plan" after all. However, Hyungu happily throws people under the bus and when it's finally his turn towards the end of the season, he (unsurprisingly) backs off and says he feels sad and lonely. He threw a huge pity party so that other players felt bad for him. 7high didn't act like that. And I am saying this as someone who didn't initially like 7high all that much. I feel like you misunderstood why people were upset at Hyungu winning.
I came here after S2 and now that I've reached the finale of this Season as well, I have to say I LOVED the final…
Really fun comment to read through, I'm rewatching the seasons in anticipation of season 3 and I must say that I agree with you that S1 was way more thrilling, especially by the finale!
Though admittedly, I very much disagree with your characterisation of Orbit! He seemed to genuinely want to trick the entire premise of the game, by trying to get as many people into the finale as possible. Trying to make an elimination game more "fair". He didn't come off as pretentious to me at all! Moreso misguided or rather naive, hahaha. The conflict between Seokjin's gang and Orbit and friends seemed like a strong ideological fight, very interesting to watch. I couldn't help but feel for both sides of the debate. Seokjin's (normal) individual approach to the game vs Orbit's weird team approach.
Dongjae really got screwed over by the game, I remember feeling relieved at his elimination during my first watch, but it felt more bittersweet the second time around.
Seems I’m in the minority that actually liked ORBIT and wanted him to win too (after Dongjoo got eliminated…
I agree with you. Really liked Orbit and enjoyed his frankly weird approach to an elimination game. It was fun watching him try to build a massive alliance, but apparently most people thought otherwise. Oh well.
Always a remake from another country or a webtoon. Creativity is dead in 2026
I hope that you guys also complain about K-Drama remakes of popular international properties or Japanese/Chinese Webtoons. K-Dramas like Playful Kiss and Boys over Flowers wouldn't have existed without them. This isn't a new thing...
While I agree with you. I'd argue it's more due to greed than laziness. If you fire most designers and keep one to make the AI prompts, then that's less people you gotta pay a salary for. Even though wages are notoriously bad in the TV and film industry.
Also I see a bunch of you go watch Genius after this, please adjust your expectations. It came out 11 years ago…
I personally think that the games of the Genius hold up extremely well! Players within the Genius tend to think outside of the box a lot, leading to 'interesting' strategies. But sure, the production might seem dated, I'll give you that. But I'd really recommend people to watch ALL 4 seasons in order to truly get all the enjoyment of The Genius Grand final, because of the returning players. (Come on, season 1 of The Genius is a must-watch!)
Whelp. That was… interesting. After I watched season 1 I came and peeked at the reception of this season and…
Hopefully I'm not to late to join your discussion, but I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment. I was thinking about this show again as I was looking for some new game shows to watch and came across your comments.
ORBIT was such a unique player that his view on the game and his playstyle as result was a breath of fresh air. This is in complete contrast to how most of the players conduct themselves in this season. The way the prison players were treated from the get-go really rubbed me the wrong way and immediately made me root for them. Players such as Justin or 7high as you mentioned were fun to watch.
I'd recommend you 'The Genius' if you haven't watched it already, it's from the same makers as the Devil's Plan and pretty good.
I kept wanting to remind myself of what this show was called, because I managed to effectively supress it (for my own wellbeing LOL) But here I am again, out of curiousity. This show had a great ammount of potential, but quickly falls off after part 1. If anyone happens to read this, just watch part 1. It's fairly enjoyable albeit very chaotic, but part 2 does not live up to ANY expectations. I remember tolerating the plot until episode 9 BUT IT WAS SO BAD.
Weak Hero Class 1 is easily my favorite out of all of these listed. Went it without any prior expectations (neither good or bad) and got absolutely blown away by the writing and the performances. Story wasn't anything revolutionary, but very well paced and the storytelling was unlike any other; exceptionally well done. Never thought I'd say that about a primarily 'action' oriented show.
3 years is quite the time jump, let's see how edgy Jang Uk will become (love the new outfit!)
I hope that LJW and GYJ have better chemistry than he had with JSM. They seemed more like close friends than a romantic pairing that is meant to be taken seriously. Anyways, looking forward to a new season!
You're right, but for me personally her acting is kind of hit or miss. The prospect of her and PHS in a medical drama is most likely a pass. Wish you guys fun with the show though.
Thank for your brilliant review. You perfectly described what makes this drama special. I didn't have any particular expectations going in (just saw Jihoon on the posters hehe...) but the acting blew me away. Definitely one of the standout dramas this year!
If I could somehow upvote this review more, I would. Completely right on every point. Wouldn't have watched this if I hadn't read the webtoon beforehand.
Thanks, I guess. I feel like I've dodged a bullet by skipping this drama. Really like the actors, but If I have to force myself to like the main character of a story, I'd rather pass.

I must be good at guessing, for I did not know most of these! But it was fun to play haha.

Also not a fan of medical dramas here ^^
