I love Filter, it's my favorite modern cdrama! The humor was exactly right for me. I've watched it twice and even made my husband watch it with me the second time. He doesn't watch cdramas but he was interested because he liked him in Sound of Silence - we were lucky enough to see that when it came to theaters in the US.

For most of his shows, I tend to rewatch his scenes. LYF wasn't my cup of tea either and I couldn't finish it, but I did watch all Xiang Liu's scenes. And then I couldn't stop watching clips on YouTube....

When I first saw him as XL, I remember I had to pause a scene and look up who he was because his acting impressed me so much. Funnily enough, my husband had the exact same reaction. He paused a scene in Filter to say, "How is this guy so good? Seriously, how??"

I really liked LMLMV, but it does need the right viewing mindset. It's a sweet, fluffy, warm-blanket of a show. It doesn't require super close attention, so it's a great choice to have on to help you get through a boring task.

Yeah I don’t like it at all, it’s way too bleak. The BTS are upsetting enough, I don’t think I can watch it if they choose the sad ending.

I'm definitely hoping for the HE. An unjust execution is simply too bleak, especially with that cruel of a method. I want it to follow the novel, and I think ZYH's arc would be incomplete without it.

I've read the book and I don't recall him killing his own people, unless there's something I'm forgetting. He feels guilty about Pang Yu, but as Nan Yi points out, he was actually trying to save him in that scene. He's focused on saving his people, not killing them. I don't think he needs whitewashing, but if censorship requires it for a happy ending, then it shouldn't be too hard for them to do that.

I want it to come out too. I've watched every show where he's the ML, some more than once. I've started trying to go back and watch some of his support roles (just finished Centimeter of Love), but not sure which one to choose. Not anything too sad, XL traumatized me enough!

Do we know it's an AU ending? I'm hoping it will end like the book did, with him calling out to her from the shore (biggest hope would be to actually get a shot of him unlike in LGIEF where we didn't even see the male lead), and then the special episode explains how he was saved and shows them happily married. Basically like the book epilogue, except I want the show epilogue to focus on them instead of minor characters - I didn't care that much about the princess and was disappointed she got an entire epilogue chapter instead of the main couple. If it's an AU/dream/what-if scenario, then I agree, that would be infuriating.

I would absolutely watch a show with the two of them together.

Yeah I also like coke more, but Sprite is good too and I thought the Sprite with tea didn’t look bad. But I really do need to stay away from these sugary drinks…don’t tempt me, Tan Jianci! 😂

I actually found out about AYS from that song performance! It was so unlike his other stuff that I had to look up where it was from and found the show. It does get gritty a few times, especially the ending arc which I really enjoyed, but overall it’s pretty lighthearted.

I can’t afford most of his brands either. There’s Sprite… but I’m trying not to drink soda lol

Yes, one of the things I like about his acting is how different he is in every role. I just watched Centimeter of Love, where he plays an absolute spoiled brat (with a great growth arc), and I was laughing in disbelief most of the time because I couldn't believe it was him! It's amazing how he disappears into his characters. Glad you're enjoying the show!

What is going on with her? I'm in the US and I'm mostly out of the loop because it's hard for me to find real news about Chinese actors. I thought her claims had been debunked because she posted a bunch of faked "evidence", like faked chat logs. Is that not right? How is she back?

Are You Safe is a fun show! I started it only for Tan Jianci, with no expectations whatsoever, and was pleasantly surprised with how much I ended up liking it. Not a masterpiece of course, but pretty entertaining.
