Best Slice of Life and healing drama to date

Few dramas can capture the essence of life as Meet Yourself has done. This drama was impeccable from start to finish and all the characters are unique, fully fleshed out and endearing in their own way. Love the cast and their brilliant acting and OMG, the writing is superb - I genuinely laughed out loud at very funny and memorable lines. It is such a refreshing and relaxing watch. Love the actress in this - her acting is so on point and very nuanced and realistic, she is like an observer, although the lead - she isn’t unnecessarily placed or directed to act as the main character - she blends into the tranquility of village life and its people making the collective story shine even more. She and the male lead are excellent in their craft and has this rare natural chemistry that developed over time - no modern romcom tropes. The male lead is so hilarious- a well rounded character and a pivotal glue across families. This drama is so beautiful- it speaks to the heart and evokes my longing for simplicity, and thought provoking with all its lessons about love, friendship and family and what really matters in life. Watch this - all worth it.

Started cute and quick became boring with no real plot development

Watching this for Lu Wei but his acting chops cannot save this snooze fest drama. I continued watching for him + to see if there would be more plot development to add some excitement to this story which gets blander each episode. The chemistry started out cute and fluffy but quickly turned repetitive having the same dating/flirting scenes for 20+episodes with some VERY cringy PDA and public love confession. Female lead character has not developed at all - still like a high school kid, with that baby talk voice. Leo’s intense acting - those whispered dialogues and penetrating gaze that were effective for his LLTG role! - are sometimes an overkill in his scenes for this drama or perhaps it could have worked if FL can match that energy. Still want to finish this but I fast fwd a lot of boring scenes. Good watch if you like cute relaxed drama with no real conflicts to spice up the story.

Great story, direction and perfectly casted show

I watched a ton of Asian dramas but none of them has ever had me hooked like this show. It made me watch till the end without skipping any scene, even replaying when I missed a subtitle. It was agonizing waiting in between episodes so I also rewatched prior episodes on the days where no episodes are being aired.
In summary- top notch acting from all cast members who all have contributed to the story; great direction, very polished cinematography - splendid camera work and editing overall - and a solid, interesting story nicely wrapped up in the end. 10/10

Exceeded expectations - superb acting and top-notch storyline

Just finished all the episodes and what a performance especially from the male leads. Leo Wu has spectacularly captured the grit and angst of his Ling Buyi character in those revenge scenes. Zhao Lusi was a marvel in this entire drama - she perfectly portrayed the wit, stubbornness and youthfulness of ShaoShang in the earlier episodes and seamlessly transitioned acting-wise to a broken-hearted, elegant, still smart but more mature ShaoShang towards the end. The drama deserves to be watched for these two characters and actors alone but it was such a great and surprising treat to watch a very well-written, well-paced, enjoyable story, with an incredibly talented ensemble of cast - all very endearing and memorable and even the villains and minor roles - a great director, excellent cinematography and music. For those still on the fence - watch this if you are looking for a top-quality drama to savor from beginning to end:) 10/10 overall

Very intriguing rom-com that delivers so far

I almost didn't want to start this due to the lowish MDL ratings and mostly negative comments but as none of the new drama offers kept me hooked from episode 1 and all dropped, this was different and saved me from a current drama slump. The negative reviews/comments are mostly irrelevant to the drama quality and often sound immature and laughable eg FL has obvious PS done (hello, who didn't?), FL is old, always plays the same type, she should play more challenging roles (ma’am, this is a rom-com, not intended for drama awards, and at least she has work offers in a very competitive industry), SML is annoying, ML is boring/is unknown/isn’t lead material, SML looks better as lead, drama is boring, drama is flop and dropped etc etc. I always ask myself, why would one torture oneself and continue watching only to make the same negative comment after each and every episode? For the love of god, please just drop the drama and move on to others that are within your high standards and and let those of us enjoy this without being inundated with an endless cacophony of negativity. for those still on the fence, IGNORE the negative comments, sadly mostly from FL bashers; if you want heavy drama, award winning show, this is not it. But if you want something to watch that is intriguing, relaxing and light hearted after a hard, tedious day - I totally recommend this.
ACTING + STORY so far 10/10 for this genre - FL is perfect for the role, she was able to capture and fully portray that nuanced blend of being an independent, spunky, high-flier woman with poise and credibility whilst subtly hiding the inner emotional turmoil, the vulnerability and the thought-processes of her character shaped mostly on her life experiences from childhood to adulthood based on a few flashbacks/snippets shown. ML’s character is a great contrast and the actor has a very good grasp of his role and how to interpret it. What binds them despite the stark difference in their personalities is their maturity to go beyond their typical selves or job and be considerate of the needs of the other (and others) - and this is what makes this partnership very strong but also fun with all the comedy of adjusting or simply interacting with someone very different. The support characters, including the SML are all well-written and are fulfilling their intended puposes plot-wise and no annoying characters so far so hope this continues. I wanted to just watch the first episode to have a feel for it and wait until its fully completed to binge but i just couldnt so I finished the first 4 episodes in one go like a book that is hard to put down. Unfortunately, I know I will suffer through the week long wait for new episodes - a sacrifice I occasionally do once I find a good drama that interests me. Overall, this drama is intriguing for me and has kept me hooked and wanting more so hope the quality and fun continues till the end.
