I wish there was a balance between the two and not just in favor of one, in this case the dark and toxic ones. I think there is a market for both and I would be happy to see some fluffy cbl too even though dark romance is one of my favorite genres when done well.

I too look forward to more toxic cbl. I just hope they handle them well with good writers and actors so we don’t end up with another mess like this one.

I find this so interesting because I’m the opposite to you. I’m bipolar and it pisses me off royally that they are using mental illness and especially bd as an explanation (and excuse) for LFs behavior. What and who he is has nothing to do with bd. Imo they should have just let him be the monster he actually is. He would be so much more interesting that way.

Ah, this was such a sweet watch with some mystery sprinkled into it. I absolutely loved it. For once did I love both couples equally and I kind of shipped Chuai and Kongh everytime they were bickering. 😎😘

Say what you want about Domundi but they know how to deliver. The acting, ost, cinematography, writing… it was all there. Some say it’s boring, I say you’re wrong. It’s just wonderful. Def a rewatch on a gloomy day.

Not to mention the damage a depiction like this does to the bipolar community. It’s stigmatizing enough to have bd without being portrayed like a homicidal, obsessive, stalker, psycho maniac. There is absolutely nothing bipolar about Lu Feng. I wish people stopped writing characters with diagnoses if they have no clue about said diagnoses.

People, before you watch this: the clue is in the tags; abusive and obsessive male lead. Nothing good comes of that combination. You can’t seriously get pissed off by the content with those tags. Don’t watch it if you want cute and fluffy and hurt/comfort. You won’t get it here.

Also, it’s ok to drop a series if it’s triggering you. Why watch something you hate. Already the first episode is foreboding of what’s to come.

I agree with you completely. I can’t understand how people could even expect this to be anything but toxic if they’ve done even the tiniest bit of research, like read the tags or watched the trailer 🙄 It isn’t for everyone and if you don’t like it, don’t watch and definitely don’t rate because it wasn’t the genre you expected. I actually take very lightly the rating here on mdl. I have series I absolutely adore with ratings in the 6’s. It was more like I felt like some people think that if you don’t think this is a masterpiece then you have no clue about the genre and should be quiet and I don't like that sentiment. I thank you for you thoughtful answer.

You think it’s an amazing show. I respect that. Others don’t. I respect that too. Maybe you just have to accept the fact that people feel differently than you about this series.

Have it occurred to you people who complain about the low rating and who accuses others of hate rating that people have different preferences and experiences. I love dark romance and black flags. Vegas is one of my favorite characters of any BL. The genre in BL I consume the most in manga/manhwa is dark romance and my physical collection is extensive in that genre alone. I still don’t like this series. I dropped it even. It has nothing to do with not understanding the genre or hating on it, I just think the script is sub par, the acting (except Ayden) is debatable and the plot is a mess. Not to mention the use of mental illness, and especially bipolar disorder which is a huge problem in its own, as a means to excuse LF’s behavior. This series has so many problems and they have none directly related to the genre itself.

Edit: And by genre related I’m talking about troupes and not necessarily the way they are portrayed.

The villain is villaining, DGZ is hot as ever and the chemistry is sizzling. You just have to get past the first few episodes where the fl is a helpless, naive mistress in distress.

Bipolar rep?! You can’t be serious. As someone who actually has bd this is horrible. This is no rep at all. This is actually harmful to those (us) who has bd. To be associated with this kind of behavior when it’s so far from the reality is outrageous. Having bd is already stigmatizing, you don’t need ”representation ” telling people we are crazy, obsessive, violent, abusive, rapist, homicidal maniacs. So please, don’t call this bipolar rep. Especially if you’re not bipolar yourself.

Taiwan, what are you doing?! This isn’t a series, it’s a fleshed out pitch for a series that has potential but the network said nah, we don’t think so but we’re fine with releasing it as is because fujoshis eat all and the nc scene is fire (it is btw but that alone won’t save this train wreck). I had higher hopes until I realized each episodes were 10 min long. Ah well…

I was so bored every time Hill and Easter came on screen. Their story is so meh and it pains me to say this but Earth’s acting is so cringe and the chemistry between him and Pond is weird. What saves this show is Johan and North. I’ve always had a weakness for Bas smile and there’s plenty of that. And he has very good chemistry with Maxky so that was nice. But I’m ngl, I ff many bits with Easter/Hill. I do look forward to season two and Phoon and Fah’s story.

Edit 2: I finished it. And my theory about this shitshow is; someone wrote a fanfiction about Nam Woohyun and Lee Sungyeol. And then someone else read it and thought it would be a great tv series since they could cast Woohyun and Sungyeol as the ml. This should have stayed in the ff realm is what I’m trying to say. //

Ok so I’ve only seen 3 ep and I’m not too thrilled about the romance that’s coming. I can see how it would have been an awesome sibling relationship between Woohyun and Seulbi instead. I can also see why they cast a 14 year old in the role because it’s hard to get away with that kind of innocence with an older actor. But just couldn’t they left the romance out of it. Idk if I’ll keep watching or not. I want to but also not.

Edit: I give up. 11 ep and they lost me. Remind me again, why do we need 20 ep? And why do we need this to be a romance? Seulbi and Woohyun fit better as siblings than a couple. Let’s forget about the kiss please. It could have been good but they are really trying hard to fit in every issue a teenager can possibly have in high school and add couple of issues the Korean society has in general too. It’s too much. Ugh, I give up and just forget all this happened. It’s a shame really, I like both Nam Woohyun and Lee Sungyeol and this is obviously the company’s wish, to have them do this drama. Anyways… some might think it’s cute, I think it’s tedious.

I haven’t watched the og or any of the other versions and I wasn’t planning on watching this either because it’s so far from my type of humor one can get but it is EarthMix so here I am anyway. Oddly enough I found myself giggling about the weirdest things and cringing at Heng’s childishness, wondering what they saw in him. But I’ll still watch another ep just because it’s EarthMix before I decide what I really think.
