Lol he FINALLY initiates a text in episode 15 🤦🏻♀️
Well I guess in the episodes from the village he starts showing some jealousy/concern for her but ep 15/16 is where he’s much more aware since they are back in Shanghai and he’s starting to realize he misses her constant presence. It’s cute and sweet bc he’s played up to be such an “ice mountain” that he didn’t realize she’s been steadily and successfully chipping away at his feelings.
Glossing over second ml (annoying) and the loveline between Xiao Mei's boss & bestie (boring) - like how long…
I don’t like that the relationship is starting on a lie based on a disability. that really turned me off. 2FL is good in her role but I feel 2ML acting with 2FL is lacking chemistry and feels forced. That’s a lot of money he’s spending on her with her unknowing of his feelings.
I agree! What’s up with this plot hole! At first I was like ….maybe they don’t have internet ?!?… because…
These jobs are not seen as worthy by older generation Asians. It’s mentioned in the drama too but if you’re not a doctor, scientist etc then it’s not good enough for the parents to brag about. YMR already has the one doctorate in the village yet she wasted it by being an influencer and “showing her body” rather than using her brains and the PhD which is why she had to lie and pretend she was a prof at the uni. Probably not a lot of people had the opportunity to move out of the village (or that is what the show is implying). Only YMR and her bff have the opportunity and means to leave bc they don’t have any outside connections. That’s why selling the grapes is so hard even though the grapes are available for sale online
As a reminder:Episodes with eng sub will air from this week on as such: 1 ep/day for 4 days(Mon-Thurs)Last episode…
NOVEMBER?!?! 🤯💀 This is not the post I needed to see! I just need to live without the knowledge that I can’t binge this. I think I need to somehow forget about it for 3 weeks SOME HOW and then binge it all. I HATE watching shows as they air! Stupid LBFAD and IS wrecking my life as the first ones I watched while they were airing 😭. Now I’m out here chasing eps and suffering 😩
How come none of the villagers have seen MeiRen's beauty ads? I mean, now a days internet has reached even to…
I agree! What’s up with this plot hole! At first I was like ….maybe they don’t have internet ?!?… because if they did why is every character always fetching others to go eat?!? Just text them 🤣. But yeah how does no one know about her??? 😂
My husband isnt Chinese so he just watches with me and reads subtitles. I explain to him that my brain goes 600000 faster than his because I first hear it and then read it and retranslate. 1. Read in English. 2. Hear it in Mandarin. 3. Convert it to Cantonese 4. Convert it to my native Chinese dialect 5. Process it back in English.
Subtitles are an injustice to the native language bc there’s so much lost in translation or simplifieD in English. Sometimes I laugh at a scene when the English translation doesn’t make it funny. I have the same experience when watching stuff in Spanish. It’s hard to translate idioms 😜
Mandarin is the recognized official language of China. Cantonese is a large regional dialect of Southern China. I speak an even smaller dialect within Southern China. Some people compare it to British vs American English but I think it’s more different than that. You have a lot more overlap and less issue understanding the two types of English. I think it’s comparable to Spanish in Mexico where the language is very different depending where you’re located. The difference is how you use tones/accents.
When people say they speak Chinese it can mean they speak one of the million dialects available. I say i speak Chinese but it’s a regional dialect so everyone from China can say they speak it but the spoken language can vary WRITTEN Chinese is uniform. No matter if it’s Cantonese , Mandarin or a dialect , the characters are written the same way , just pronounced differently.
Yes definite head start. I can speak Kindergarten level Chinese dialect which led to watching Cantonese dramas from age 12-18 and then Mandarin dramas I only started last October…now it’s almost been a year and I’m so proud of myself for such growth 😩😂
Sigh. The lil bro 😩
