The synopsis says the female lead was reborn after being killed and it didn't seem like that was the case. After watching five episodes, it was unclear how she ended up reappearing after supposedly dying in a fire. She just suddenly reappeared after three years without any explanation on how it happened and as to whether or not she escaped the fire or did she die and time travelled back to the past? She came back looking exactly the same but with a different identity, how could the people in the palace let that escape them for three years? It's just ridiculous. Was this review helpful to you?
Dropped if
Tried to really watch it because they said this version is the best one and also I love Liu Yi Fei and Huang Xiao Ming, but I just couldn't stand HXM's noisy character. As for the story, I couldn't grasp what the main plot really is.Was this review helpful to you?
Droppex it
I wanted to give it a chance because of some good reviews but really couldn't stand it anymore after watching 5 episodes. There's nothing much with regards to story. It's pretty slow too. Female lead is too dumb and noisy. Male lead can't really act and always has the same frowning expression. Sorry to his fans but I don't find him handsome at all.

Didn't like it
Because of all the great reviews, I was really excited to watch this. I'm also a Hu Ge fan and couldn't wait to watch him again. I hated the first episode. I think there's something wrong with the English subtitles; they weren't accurately translated. Also, the way they talked, I think Shanghainese style, it was annoying to me. They were also talking too fast, and all that jargon was boring. I still gave it a chance and watched until the 3rd episode. Second and third episodes were better than the first, but still I found it boring. I didn't want to waste time something I wasn't enjoying just for the sake of watching it so I decided to drop it.Was this review helpful to you?
Silly
After watching Zhou Yu Tong in Will Love in Spring and loving her performance there, I decided to watch this next. Her role here is a bit similar in that she's an aggressive independent woman in both dramas. But, I didn't like her character here at all. She's arrogant, silly, and not as smart as she thinks she is. As for Simon Gong, I've watched him in a lot of other dramas and have noticed he has a little bit of a feminine side, which became a lot more pronounced here. I don't know if that is what the directors wanted as a male lead or it' s just him. He talks like a woman here, which is a bit of a turnoff. So the female lead acts more like a man and the male lead acts more like a woman. Plus, the annoying spoiled second female lead is here. I read other negative reviews about how terrible the plot is and decided not to waste my time watching it.Was this review helpful to you?
Dropped it
I'm sorry but even with the great reviews, I just couldn't stand the typical obsessive second leads - the creepy stalker cousin and the obsessive girl shamelessly chasing after the creep right at the start. Would've been great without those two. Aren't we all tired of this same scenario? Was this review helpful to you?
Boring
After watching Pursuit of Jade, everything else became mediocre. Had high hopes for this because of the good reviews and have watched the male lead perform well in other dramas. Unfortunately, his acting here wasn't great. Both the leads were emotionless and funny didn't suit them. It's also hard to believe them acting as a married couple don't even kiss 😆 No chemistry at all! I had a hard time keeping my eyes open and not falling asleep thru each episode. Was this review helpful to you?

9 minutes per episode? Is this a movie or a drama? What a confusing first episode. No background story to begin with or anything. What a mess of a writing. Started with showing the ending and I was expecting a flashback to begin the whole drama but it wasn't really an explanation, I don't even know what to call it.Was this review helpful to you?
Creepy
I'm not into old-fashioned Chinese family disputes where the main wife bullies the other wives. The main wife here is so creepy. Wishy-washy husband is a turn-off. It's a circus. Dropped it after two episodes. Was this review helpful to you?
Boring
I missed Zhao Li Ying and was looking for a drama she starred in. Because the main leads are a real-life couple, I got interested. Unfortunately, all her recent dramas aren't great and that includes this one. I loved little Minglan. She was cute, brave, and smart. The grownup Minglan looked a little older than the age she was portraying. Some people said there were parts which were funny, but I didn't find anything funny at all. I agree with some comments that the characters are confusing. As with any big family drama, it gets confusing who is who and what their hierarchy is. The male lead looks so old and frankly, not handsome. They don't look good together. This drama has too much talking and the dialogue is so boring. In one episode, Mistress Lin was wailing on and on for so long that i couldn't stand it anymore. I wanted to force myself to finish it, but it's 73 episodes! Was this review helpful to you?
Not for me
Watched this because of the great reviews and I like both Dylan and Xiwei. Turns out it's a slapstick comedy kind of drama, which I'm not a fan. A male lead who acts silly is not for me. Comedy-wise, the part where bro was in the act of hanging himself was totally predictable and not funny at all. Have seen this in other shows. If a drama isn't good at episode 1, there's no use wasting time to continue so I dropped it.Was this review helpful to you?
