You should really watch the first 2 seasons first. I mean you can kind of watch this without the others but you'll definitely appreciate it more if you watch the other ones first. That's just my opinion.

Well there is more than one definition to intimacy, I think maybe in this one they mean connection, closeness, this couple has been to hell and back with each other, have been torn apart by fate, time, memory, and even the people around them, but somehow they always manage to make it back to each other, loving each other. Their bond is unbreakable, and that in a way can be more intimate than physical intimacy. Those are just my thoughts anyway :)
