Netflix's Asian Upside-Down Realm
I love the dark occult fantasy story, and the CGI looked really good throughout the show. The actors were very good, especially the "Mama"; god, that woman can act! Cho Seung-woo as the King was also wonderful. The male and female leads still have a long way to go with their acting skills, but they definitely have the good looks to please the mainstream audience.
Because of the historical setting, I was so glad they could not use any obvious modern product placement (PPL) 🤣. But they somehow sneaked in a cute, annoying, useless side character whose only real purpose is clearly to sell merchandise and plushies. The role made zero sense, and every time he appeared on screen, I just thought, "Is this the hidden PPL?"
The main story was quite good. I really enjoyed all the royal betrayals, the scheming, and the brutal power struggles. However, some storylines were handled weirdly, like the messy subplot with the mother. It is very obvious they are stretching the plot to force a second season. Who is even going to be the main villain next? Lord Vecna from the upside-down realm?
