I'm afraid there wouldn't be any decency in Thai series, until people stop praise everything more or less acceptable…
There are no good writers. That's the issue. Look at how BL started. They used famous and well-known novels as a source material to be sure there are enough fans and the series will sell. Those famous novels were wattpad-style online written novels who got popular because of the toxicity and the sex, like Addicted/Heroin or Together With Me (the latter was basically porn without plot). In Korean BL we have a similar issue. They use webtoons and make live action series of them. You can tell the source material is a webtoon. Most webtoons are badly written. Why? Because the authors are inexperienced, more artists than writers, and they get paid by chapter. That's also the reason why they publish chapters with big flashy images where half the pages are empty. To minimize effort and maximize income. I'm not shaming them, it's hard out there, making a living as a writer/artists. Those series get popular, because the drawings are cute. Many young people like that shallow stuff (sorry, not sorry). The story is often non-existent, character are badly written, because when the artist starts with his work, he has no idea where it's going, if it will be even successful, or if he will abandon his project. He has not the luxury to think ahead under the pressure of making a buck. Then we have Japanese BL people praise for whatever reason. If you can endure the over-acting, then you're stuck with boring office romance like in the old black-white Japanese manga. I'm just saying, there are no good writers in this genre, because it's not lucrative. It's a niche, it will always remain a niche. If you want to be a serious, well-known and successful writer, you don't specialize in Boys Love/Gay Romance. The whole genre was born from a (heterosexual) girls fantasy. Like fans write for fans. It's about imagining cute boys being in love. That's how it started. I don't know if I made myself clear. But the BL world is their own world, full of clichés, typical potlines, cute boys etc. That's the secret of its success. Why trying harder, investing more money, when it most likely isn't paying off? You won't conquer the world, even with the best written BL series ever made. It will still remain a niche.
Your first paragraph: LMAO. Exactly. You forgot to mention that Jack is under 20, so he can't get a loan in Thailand,…
The scene how they found Jack with the money was also strange. The police said, money is missing, and Jack was at the bank at the time. Really? What's with the not-at-all suspicious manager who needed the password five seconds after he arrived? "Permission to search", the police said - seriously? And of course, he still had the money in his hands. Also, he wanted the loan to build a school or a learning center or whatever? It looked, like he planned to build the whole building!!!! But then he had to become a loan shark, because he was in debt? What? Did he have no Plan B? Did he think to become a national athlete and that is everything he can do? Why does he have so much debt? Go delivering food! Look for a normal job. He agreed on being a loan shark, if he can't get the money? Why? Nothing of this is Joker's fault.
Okay, let me get this straight. Joke walks into a bank, pretends to be the manager without any form of authentication,…
Your first paragraph: LMAO. Exactly. You forgot to mention that Jack is under 20, so he can't get a loan in Thailand, and he got the money IN CASH. My last loan was a red number on my bank account.
This was an absolute snoozefest. I got bored and for some reason I didn’t get emotionally attached to the main…
Same. The characters and the story had potential, but they completely destroyed it by dragging out everything endlessly and filming so many filler scene nobody needed. I don't even see the chemistry people are praising so much.
overrated. if it wasn't yinwar people wouldn't be paying attention to this
I don't see how that's an issue. Apparently, those two were heavy involved in the production, even invested their own money. It's their series. So ... why not watch for them?
I’m genuinely curious what’s up with so many people wanting so much dark realistic drama EVERYWHERE. I understand…
I think, the trailers are always misleading. So it's not the fault of the viewers, if they expect something else. I remember the trailer of "The Eclipse", the first one, not the final one, being very, very dark. It got my excited. The actual series was different, even the lightening, cinematography etc. was completely different. I remember the KinnPorsche trailer, again, the first one, that had dope high quality fight scenes. None of those made it to the final product/series. I remember OnlyFriends first trailer, which was really interesting and great, second trailer had a completely different story. Kidnap trailer made it look much more serious than it is, more than half of the trailer is Action/Crime. The actual series is more a rom-com where the crime elements are just there to support the romance.
Jack & Joker genre on MDL: Action, Romance, Crime, Drama. No mention of "Comedy" or "Humor".
That said, I have no issues with Jack&Joker. The overall story ideas are good, only the execution of some of those ideas or events is rather silly. But the characters, their emotions, their interactions, their development isn't silly at all. So that's enough for me.
I think people crave for a good, serious series, high quality, like we know it from some Korean Action drama, and then they get disappointed, when the sillyness kicks in.
I’m glad I’m not the only one that saw all of that. All of that extra flamboyance in the beginning was so…
Then watch again. Episode 1&2 didn't have good writing. Many scenes made no sense at all. I still wonder how Jack, a minor, was thinking he could get a loan. I'm not even talking about how Joker stole the money in the bank, how easy that was and why he thought he could get away with it. He is supposed to be that great thief, some kind of modern Robin Hood, when he is just a con-man with a low success rate.
8.7? Am I seeing this right?I am huge fan of multitalented War and his voice, but I am a rational when it comes…
I think it's pretty fresh. I have never seen something like this, heist plot in BL, the interactions between the main characters. I think Trapped had a similar energy. Otherwise, I can't think of a series that was so fun and suspenseful. Give them some credit for bringing something new to the table.
One of the worst series episode I have ever watched. Expected something more from these two talented actors. We…
You either dig the humor and the silliness, or you don't. I enjoy this series a lot, but I can fully understand how someone would think this is silly and terrible. The interesting characters and the outstanding acting keeps it together and make it work.
ever since episode 1 it was obvious this show was going to be unserious, campy and funny idk why ya’ll are having…
People were commenting since day 1 (me included) that the writing is silly and weak. This show has other things to offer we can enjoy. And despite being silly, it's pretty suspenseful.
😅 That was me that complained about his high voice. Lol. Still getting use to his voice lol! But omg, yeah,…
I'm used to his voice, since I know him for a while. But when you mentioned it, I remembered that I felt the same. I was very irritated by his unusual voice.

Honestly, I think you just overlooked the issues regarding the writing in the first two episodes, because everything else was new and exciting. I did that with ep1. I thought it was flawless, when it wasn't. The writing is silly, the token faggot characters (sorry, flamboyant) didn't surprise me much. Reminds me a bit of KinnPorsche, where they gave the Tankhun character so much screen time. It made a supposedly serious mafia action series look silly. No idea why they always do that. I mean, I enjoy Jack&Joker a lot, and I don't care about the silliness, I'm digging the humor. Many said, that this series doesn't take itself too serious, and I agree with that, but yeah, it's in many aspects a typical Thai series with many typical stereotypes. And the rather nonsensical, weak writing and the overdramatic side characters are part of it.
I liked what War did with his voice in this episode. Someone complained about his real voice being too high, he made it even higher, when he dressed as a girl, but then he made it deeper when talking to Jack. I loved that. Especially his deep voice surprised me. He is really having the time of his life: playing the gangster, dressing as a woman, being the flirtatious gay guy ... What's next?
I don't know if this scene was intentional, but when Jack cleaned the joker face from the wall, I laughed so hard. Dude was making it worse. Just spray over it with some white paint. That was hilarious.

First time in my life that I even notice the buttocks of an actor and staring at it longer than necessary.
