She said this about Where the Mask Ends: “If I had to describe Where the Mask Ends in one word, I originally wanted to say remarkable. But I think challenging is more accurate. It pushed me to my limits both physically and mentally.”
She admitted that she initially accepted the role with excitement. “The villainess role I’d always wanted had finally arrived!” But once she immersed herself in the script, she realized how demanding it would be. Jun Dai and Wei Rao were two completely different characters, one purely evil, the other kind yet calculating. Constantly switching between them required changing her body language, voice, and mindset. “Sometimes I genuinely got confused. Am I playing Wei Rao or Jun Dai? Sometimes it’s Jun Dai pretending to be Wei Rao, and sometimes it’s Wei Rao pretending to be Jun Dai.”
The volume of dialogue was two to three times greater than a typical modern drama, and she also had to reproduce the linguistic style of the Han Dynasty. Playing two characters effectively doubled her workload. Most days ended around 10 p.m, after showering, she would begin memorizing lines at midnight and study for at least an hour and a half. For four to five months, she felt as though she had been split into pieces and drained of energy.
“When I’m overwhelmed, I cry. But this time, I didn’t even have time to cry.”
Her team described her as someone who would say, “This is too hard, I can’t do it anymore,” while simultaneously charging straight toward the challenge. When the pressure became unbearable, she would take a solitary walk around the residential area. “The twenty-minute park effect is real. After releasing all those emotions, you feel like tomorrow is just another ordinary day.”
Yet she never regretted taking the role. She devoted everything to it because she was captivated by the script. The contradiction of being afraid yet determined to move forward perfectly captures the mindset of an actor striving to surpass their limits.

This drama is so funny in a sarcastic way, i enjoyed watching both police and thief sides, which is rare to me haha. Xiao Tian as Li Qian is very lovely, clever and enthusiastic despite being an introvert. Everyone's acting is so natural, i also love Eric Wang's acting. And the OSTs are all bangers!
Actress Chen Zihan (The actress who plays Wei Heng E in Where The Mask Ends & Tian XiWei's costar in New Life Begins) gave a lot of praises to Tian Xiwei:
"What left the deepest impression on me this time is Tian Xiwei, because she played two characters all by herself. In my opinion, playing a good character is usually relatively easier, while playing a villain is more difficult. So when i saw how hard she worked, yet was still able to show such strong emotional intensity and possess such solid line delivery, i truly find her to be a young actress worthy of admiration
i’ve had a lot of experience working hard in the past, but while watching tian xiwei in Where The Mask Ends, i feel that if i were in her position, i might not be able to handle it. in one production, she was basically filming almost 24 hours a day, constantly focusing on her alone wearing one costume to play one character, then changing into another costume to play a different one, with a huge amount of lines
she worked alongside many seasoned actors, yet i didn’t see even the slightest shortcoming in her. on the contrary, what stood out was just how outstanding she is."

Actress Mao Lin Lin (Wei Rao's mother in Where the Mask Ends) said that while filming a scene by the mountainside, the weather was very cold, so she kept sniffling and felt frozen all over. Xiao Tian, who was beside her, kept laughing as she listened, as if she wanted to say something but then held back. A few days later, Xiao Tian bought her a high-quality thermal outfit as a gift. Xiao Tian then explained that she had laughed that day because she didn’t know what size to get. Mao Linlin praised Xiao Tian, saying she is truly a very kind and thoughtful girl 🥰

A staff member from the production of Where the Mask Ends commented about Tian Xiwei:
“I personally think she is truly beautiful and very kind-hearted. Many times she had to wake up very early for makeup, but when she arrived on set she was always full of energy and often brought joy to the entire crew.
She was extremely dedicated and serious about her role (her script was filled with dense notes that she had prepared herself), and her acting was extremely, extremely stable. She was also very approachable with staff like us and wasn’t arrogant at all."

Tian Xiwei is a girl with a deeply rich inner world, someone who holds great empathy for the characters she portrays. I truly love the message she sent to Fan Changyu, as well as her farewell note to Pursuit of Jade:
"Hesitating, wavering, too shy to speak it aloud, unsure of how to put it into words.
Changyu, I have a dream, the dream of a passionate young girl.
And so, you lift your head from the dense lines of text. You pull your cart forward, your cotton shoes sinking into the wet mud. In the depths of winter, the wind blows from nowhere in particular. Your hair is in disarray, and when you look at me, your gaze is stubborn, yet full of life.
My heart pounds in my chest, eager to try. Changyu, I want to become you.
I want to be as optimistic and strong as you. I want to walk bravely into the unknown, just like you. I want to be like you, even when knocked down, I can stand up again and again.

“The moment she put on the (police officer) uniform, she just became Li Qian.”
“She has this clean, youthful aura, with a quiet toughness inside.”
“She really captured all the key qualities Li Qian needed.”
“She seriously boosted the looks of the Sanjiangkou F4.”
