And when a director does a good a job as this one is showing REPEATEDLY the innerworkings of the leads heads' and showing that each of them have layers and VALID reasons for the way they are acting. Flirting is not always a conscious choice, and trauma, especial unresolved trauma can creep up on a person without them knowing they are even having a trauma response. Again...lack of empathy toward abuse victims is just showing that you have very little life experience.

It used to be a 100% guarantee, that if a Cdrama was 24 episodes and at least one main character was under 30 years old that they would separate for at least a year while one goes off to study abroad. This separation normally happened in the 23 episode of the show....9/10 completely out of the blue with no previous indication that it was even on the table. If both leads were over the age of 30...someone's getting transferred to a different branch in a different country for a period of time. 🙄
Here's just a rule of thumb for anyone wondering.... Never stick your nose into your boss' or your teacher's personal business. Just don't do it. It's not your business, keep your mouth shut. Unless you are related to him, you don't get any input on his life whatsoever. Keep it moving sis.
I've been using this word a lot when discussing this scene, but 'verklempt' was never more appropriate of a term from a performance than it is for that scene. The pausing, swallowing the words, holding back tears of happiness as well as sorrow....all the things...🥹🥹🥹😭😭

Zhang Ling He's performance of those moments and how verklempt he got during the phone calls with XiFan...amazing...good job director on holding on those moments.
