Awesome crime drama

White War was one of the best dramas I have seen. I watch a lot of crime dramas, so I can usually predict plotlines, but I didn't find White War to be that predictable. There were some parts that were really cliché, but there were also some really unexpected plot twists. I really loved the relationship between the three friends, which was a driving force for much of the plot. I liked how it showed that they valued their friendship so much that no matter how rough things got they would still not betray each other. I also thought the acting was really good, especially Bosco Wong. He did a fantastic job playing a really complicated character like Turbo. It was so hard to tell whether he was actually good or bad throughout the show. Overall all the characters were really 3-dimensional and interesting.

My main issue with the drama was that in the beginning it was super obvious that Turbo was an undercover cop, since he was still hanging out with his police friends and no one in the gang happened to see them which was kind of unbelievable. Also for the most part the plot and character development made sense, but there were some bits that felt a bit discontinuous to me. I did like that the plot wasn't rushed and didn't feel like it dragged on a lot either. Overall this didn't take away from my enjoyment of the show and I still enjoyed it a lot. I definitely recommend this!

Action filled drama with interesting characters

Aside from the action scenes, I think Flying Tiger's main strength was the characters. The characters were all very interesting. My favourite was Lo Man La. I loved that she was a complex villain who wasn't just straight up good or bad. You could see why she acted the way she did and sympathise with many of her actions. She definitely made the drama very interesting.

The plot was okay overall. I was a bit confused with the main goal of the police officers- whether they were trying to overthrow gangs or stop the terrorists. They kept switching back and forth. Also, I thought some of the actions from the police force were kind of unrealistic. Some of the orders given by those in charge made no sense and looked like the script writers were just trying to create some drama. They kept having officers in missions involving their family members, when in real life that probably wouldn't happen.

The acting was pretty good. The only thing I didn't like was all the English speaking parts. A lot of the time it sounded kind of awkward, but this wasn't a big issue for me since it wasn't very often.

I was debating on rating this 7 or 8 stars, but decided on 8 since I liked the ending.

There were so many things I disliked about Backstreet Rookie. First off the plot was decent but the acting was just too extra and exaggerated with unlikeable characters.

The character I hated the most was Setbyul. I guess she was supposed to come off as quirky and likeable, but in reality she was so annoying. Idk why literally every time she thought it was okay to answer all her problems with violence. I get that they were trying to show a "strong female character", but it was done in a totally wrong way. I also really hated how she kept trying to break up Daehyun and his girlfriend in the beginning. Like she has no right to do that?? Also unpopular opinion but I actually liked the girlfriend and I feel like the drama tried to hard to make her a villain so that Setbyul and Daehyun can get together. Also, I don't mind age differences when both in the couple are adults, but in this case it I really didn't like and I would have preferred a platonic relationship, because Setbyul seemed so much more immature compared to Daehyun (another reason which I liked the girlfriend, since they were at the same maturity level).
Another character I didn't like all too much was Daehyun's mom. I noticed from a lot of reviews that people seem to like her, but I really disliked her relationship with Daehyun's dad. She was always yelling at him and hitting him for no reason?? It seemed that it was there for humour, but it made me really uncomfortable because hitting each other in a relationship is never okay.
The only character I actually did like was Setbyul's sister- I liked the whole side plot with her becoming an artist. I also liked the actor friend, and I think him and Setbyul would have made a much better couple.

Aside from the characters, the plot overall was okay. I did like that it didn't have the some of the usual stereotypes like the controlling male lead or the prolonged love triangle. I thought that the pacing was weird though, because Daehyun and the girlfriend broke up so late in the drama I wasn't really sure when he started having feelings for Setbyul. Definitely do not recommend.
