Sadly I watched this after pursuit of jade so it did not hit that hard because, not only was Zhang Linghe the 2ml, but his character was so nice, cute and righteous it hurt. Also, I had already watch my journey to you so I definitely watched these dramas in the WRONG order. Because I genuinely believed I would’ve loved this so much more had I seen it first but alas I didn’t so while it was a cute watch my heart was not into it.

When I decided to watch this I read some comments saying this had a sad open ending. So I thought whatever I can delulu my way out of the sad ending. I just finished it and was it sad? sure. Open? Absolutely NOT. 1. The 2ml explicitly tells them that he couldn’t find a cure. Nobody knew how to neutralize the poison. 2. Yan ziying was already losing vision which we all knew meant he was close to dying. 3. She was wearing his ring at the competition and was downcast. So you do the math! To me it was as closed as any. There’s no way I could delude myself into thinking he didn’t die. They just spared us the moment of his death. I feel she kept traveling instead of staying in one place because traveling was her original dream(freedom) yes but also she kept her promise of seeing the world only that she had to do it without him. She had to live 40 years without him and most of the people who help her get there. I’m so sad.

Yeah he shot this less than a week after going through major surgery to get his broken clavicle fixed so the only way he could keep his body in shape was through dieting. He’ll be slimmer than usual here

So they just changed the name…Royal Betrothal does sound better than the empire as betrothal. Since it seems it’s not being released today I hope this gets proper promo. Chen Zheyuan didn’t shoot this drama days after a major surgery for nothing TT

Hold on a minute I’m on episode 2 and…HOW is this enemies to LOVERS???? They’re at each other’s literal THROATS (that bite OMG). I wish you could see my face rn I’m going INSANE!!!

I’m not a cdrama watcher but I was sick in bed with no strength to do much more than watch tv. I couldn’t even focus enough to think about what to watch and then I remembered a tt about this and said whatever it’s just to pass the time…BIG MISTAKE. For the next week they were all I could think about. Changyu is just such an especial female lead. Strong and intelligent yet kind and sweet, and don’t get me started on Yan Zheng! But also the entire cast was pure gold and the director was pulling multiple money shots in one single episode I was left in awe of the production. I was so obsessed they made my heart ache. The Marquis of Wu’an may have left me but I’ll never be hable to leave him behind TT

Believe me when I tell you I’m not big into comedy specially a superhero comedy so I was on the fence about watching it. But I’ve never laughed so much watching a kdrama. And yes the first episode might be a little tricky but trust me it gets better SO much better. Eunwoo gets a lot of grief for his acting but he’s improved so much! I was pleasantly surprised by him. The chemistry between him and Eunbin was very high too. The entire cast did an outstanding job with perfect chemistry. Definitely one of the highest highlights of Kdrama 2026 for me. I don’t think Netflix is really going to do a 2nd season (they don’t have the best track record with 2nd seasons even after teasing it) but there’s still a lot they could do with it so I will say a prayer because it was really that good. Anyways this drama has it all: drama, angst, action, comedy, love, found family. You won’t regret watching it.

This drama is a mixed bag for me. The romance was romancing but the characters, the world and the story they wanted to tell required more episodes to be told properly. Like there’re so many ways you can add a fire/explosion before it gets ridiculous. I will not blame the writers too much though their hands were constricted by the amount of episodes they had. And here’s where Im side eyeing Disney and MBC. You had a great, big names cast with incredible visuals and you couldn’t properly commit to the production? The visuals of a modern day monarchy in sk were stunning I wish to se more of this kind of dramas…but given current events it will be a long while before anyone dares again. Sigh

I was getting tired with the back and forth because bestie why are you making a fool of yourself like that and doing all that for a man that’s running hot n cold and can’t make up his mind. But after the ending of ep 7 I’d rather they go back to that stupid tug of war than whatever nonsense is coming next TT

I kept getting a sense of deja vu watching this and then I found out this is the same scriptwriter that did From now on Showtime! and it all made sense TT. The chemistry between the leads is superior here but the ending in FNOS while maybe a little bland was definitely better than whatever this ending was.

This drama is my guilty pleasure!! I love the main couple and the kids so much that I rewatch this entirely at least once a year (last year I watched it twice). Do I skip Sara’s parts? Mostly. Do I enjoy the sweetness of the main couple and the kids? ABSOLUTELY! I also lowkey enjoy the relationship between his sister and her brother! Everybody else can fall off a cliff for all I care! Except Lawyer Ko and the lady secretary who came to replace Sara. Dan Dan’s father is number one on that fall list btw I hate him (doesn’t help that the actor is royally BAD!). But the chemistry between the two main characters is just way too good for me to not like it. They ARE frustrating though but even that I enjoy. It’s a love hate relationship. I’m currently on my yearly rewatch and it still hits just as hard.

I feel like they were so close to perfection with this drama. The whole cast did an outstanding job, the direction, the fighting scenes, the sets, the cinematography and the ost. Everything was so good…and then you have the story. Sure it was not necessarily bad but there were so many convenient plot resolutions, rushed parts and some things that were not quite delved into. This drama was so rich with so many main players it could’ve done better with at least your regular 16 episodes. People who like fast paced dramas will like this but to me this story had much more to bite so it’s kinda sad it was cut like that. But truly what a beautiful and outstanding work.

Is this makjang???? Because there’s no other reason I had to watch a CHILD get run over TWICE?!? That was brutal TT

This drama left me absolutely GUTTED. I cried every episode and it only got worst as the story progressed . Really if you tend to cry while watching series be ready to be run dry by the end of it. The story is too good. The acting superb. Everybody deserves an (several) award(s) from this. Actors, director, writer everyone gets a 100000% class note. You can tell this story was crafted with love and patience and that they were sure and true to what they wanted to do. It’s so good watching a series with intention and a story instead of just a money grab. This one will stay with me for a long time because this is obviously a once in a lifetime drama.

Ngl... I'm slightly surprised by the amount of downright BAD reviews and hateful comments for this drama because I enjoyed it? To each their own I guess. Though I kinda agree with some takes here. It's true this was too slow paced which I don't usually mind but since this was only eight episodes long everything was only superficially explored and rushed at the end. Netflix has no problem releasing nonsense dramas with 16 eps but this one that actually had a lot of things to explore only got eight? So yeah it ended up being a little shallow. Also that electro music was something? But I did love the chemistry between the leads and God bless them they really tried (and did) their best with was given to them. It's a shame people are not liking this.

Honestly I don’t even go here (meaning this is not my genre of choice) but this is worth your time 100% ! It had me at the edge of my seat each episode. The characters had depth, the fighting sequences were brutally intense and well executed, the actors were tremendously good at portraying these complex characters. They kept a good pace that maintain the tension. High honors to Ji ChangWook. his ability to play the role of a good cop losing himself a bit in the madness of it all was brilliant but honestly I never doubted his ability to pull this off, his chemistry with Wi hajoon was crazy good. Hajoon also did a magnificent job. Truly the whole cast did a great job. This could’ve fallen flat without the right cast and thankfully they picked right. So go watch it!

Ok, so their child brought him back. The clue is in the conversation Do Da Hae has with the kid right before. She asks where did he find the ball he was holding in his hand since she spent all day looking for it and couldn't find it. And then he explains he went to the past and brought it back. Then after realizing that her son’s power is going to the past and bringing things to the present, she asks him to bring back his father whom she lost 15 years ago. So my guess is that right after gwi ju saved her, their kid appeared and brought him back. Thus saving him from the explosion and bringing him to the present.

Contrary to the comments I liked this. Maybe because I thought this was going to be wacky but it turned out to be much more grounded than I expected. The ost was very much atypical for a drama and it fit perfectly with the overall vibe of the story. I think this drama was a good step for Jang KiYoung's post-military acting career, at the very least I feel there's considerable improvement in his acting here compared to his past works. I liked the cast chemistry a lot and I hope to see more of the “samchoon”! I thought he was really cute and I was very surprised when I found out that apparently, the actor is the maknae of the family. Anyhow to me, this drama has been one of the good ones of 2024.
