I have seen much better and seen much worse. A few incidental extras thrown in to show townspeople, palace staff and, oh yes, teashop customers, living their daily lives, would have given this boring drama a a better sense of realism. P.S. I have only watched up to ep 8.
Surprise, surprise -townspeople appeared twice for a second or two in ep. 12.

In ep. 41 the FL finds the prince'e body in the lake. Which prince - the good one or the bad one? When was he killed? (and) Who killed him? What happened to the other prince? I must have missed an episode - or two. Can anybody please tell me which episode(s) cover these events - either version will do.

I have just finished episode 42 - after a break - because I had difficulty finding some episodes. I am confused about something that I seem to have missed. See spoiler.

Did you mean to write, "IS NOT"? You have it back to front. Your comment would make more sense had you thought that I had said, 'women who CAN fight back can NOT be raped'. Regardless...

Er...No. It does not suggest that at all. I was saying, in response to your comment, that there was nobody else there to pull him off of her. YOUR use of the continuous tense 'TRYING' implies that he failed to complete the action. She did not have the strength to stop him. so, who or what, from your perspective, was physically strong enough to stop him? You say that it was because he was interrupted every time. I shall have to watch it again to verify/disprove your claim but, until then, my comment about him stopping because he chose to (for whatever reason) stands. If he were really meant to rape her, he would have suceeded when the other person(s) (who did nothing, by the way) left him to resume his so called 'TRYI NG'.

Also, I did not give MY point of view - except for the last comment about where I would kick him. As a retired teacher, my comment was mostly addressing your terminology from a linguistic, etymological, and legal standpoint. If a man grabs your breast but you tell the police that he tried to rape you, you are being untruthful. This would be a diservice to woman who are actually raped.

No, I don't know what would have happened next - had he not be "stopped". Nor do you. But I know what the director was telling me from my experience of watching these dramas. Telling you that you should call it what it is - is just that. I am a teacher (and one time Women's Aid Volunteer) and I certainly would never say that Women who can not fight back can not be raped.

Yes. I am really enjoying it - very modern. The other one was set in the Ming period and had very old fashioned look to it.

I mean no disrespect but I have to ask. Do you want her (the character and not the actress) to be gay (because you are, perhaps) or is she (the actress / character) giving off vibes that I have missed? I have only watched three episodes thus far but have seen nothing to suggest that she is batting for the same side, as it were.

Started to watch this, thinking that it was a new drama, but it looks very old fashioned (at least 15 years old). Also, the first five minutes are exactly the same as another old drama which I watched years ago.

Edit. No, I found the right one but with very bad subs. God knows what I was watching before under the same title on Youku.

Try Daily Motion - but hurry, because the Korean drama episodes are often taken down within days of being posted. Also, there may be more than one subtitled version of each episode available.
Edit: I have just tried to watch 4 different versions of Episode 1. None are subtitled well throughout; They all have a mix of good, bad, and missed subs.

I don't like the 'noble idiocy ' trope either. I was just just trying to point out that she is not the villain that you paint her to be. She is flawed, yes, and some might not like her behaviour or her character - but you would happily have her suffer in Hell. You strongly 'hate' her (too much so) and I do not think it deserved. Also, you have not yet shown how she was responsible for the SML turning 'evil'.

He doesn't 'try' to rape her. This suggests that you think she was capable of fighting him off and that she actually did so. He is threatening to rape her, to mark his territory, as it were, but with no intention of carrying it through because he knows when to stop and doesn't touch her intimate parts - and we, the viewers, know this. (Of course, even if he did, they would not show it.) When they have the ML behave this way we understand this otherwise we would not accept him. Compare it to how they film a scene where they want us to hate the villain for attempted rape even when it is off-screen. But call it what it was - sexual assault. Personally, if a man did that to me, I'd kick him in the nuts in either situation.

In a historical context, she does have a right to separate them. Also, she is not trampling the male lead. By the law of the time, she is no longer married to him. Just like concubines in many Chinese Dynasties had no rights to their own children - they belonged to the official wife. She is not cruel at all and, although she seems cold hearted, inside she is not. You are applying modern day social mores and standards to the distant past as well as failing to understand that what she is doing is for the ML - how ever misguided her actions. The second male lead turned evil because of his own inate character. Have you not watched enough of these yet to be familiar with the 'noble idiocy' trope?

Thankyou for replying. (I did actually see a comment saying as such after I posted the question.) Let's hope that you are right. I hate waiting for follow up seasons. Look at Joy of Life, for example!

Someone else here says that part two will air in Mar / April, but gave no source, and you say six months. Did the Chinese government, when they limited the number of episodes to forty, not stipulate that a second season cannot be aired until a year later? Or have these rules been relaxed?

Good subs are only done up to ep 27.
