As for the edict, it was already explained. ML's brother looks like was captured when he returned to the capital…
Ah. I need to watch the first few episodes again to know that. If I am guilty of one thing - it is not paying attention to certain things in the early episodes and regretting it later. If you are still interested by then (but you won't be because you'll have moved on to a new drama and will be asking questions about THAT one) I'll let you know. :)

I agree with your comments and your thinking is very healthy. However, I meant that you shouldn’t say ‘please’ in this situation. It softens an argument that is already persuasive and would sound more confident without it — in the same way that repeatedly apologising for things that aren’t one's fault can make someone appear unnecessarily SUBMISSIVE. You do not have to say 'please' (here) to appear non-agressive. There are many aggressive people on MDL - and you are definitely not one of them.

I am not quite sure what you mean about 'the paper' (Do you mean edict? One did NOT refuse an edict.) and the 'emperor' (Which one? The dead one? The boy emperor had not suceeded to the throne at that time). So not fully understanding you, I can only say "Would they have been allowed to say no - and not have any repercussions?"

It's all for the angsty drama. ML being mean and irrational to FL so the plot can finally return her to the Lishan…
He is neither mean to her nor irrational - he is just being emotional and so is she.

When have emotions ever made sense?

Also, wtf is with historical cdramas showing even mildly sick people vomiting blood like they have a terminal…
This comes from classic literature — Characters in classics like Dream of the Red Chamber cough blood to show frailty or emotional devastation, which "reinforces the trope’s 'cultural roots".

Really? Not one 'rational viewer'? Other than you, do you mean?!

The emperor's mother wanted to steal the throne and sought the academy's approval to lend her credibility / legitimacy but they refused which led to their downfall.

@lulu: You are right about the leads motivations / behaviours - but why are you 'begging' people to wait (because that's what it looks like) - rather than making a suggestion? You can give your opinion or offer a different perspective (if not both) in the hopes that you might get someone to see something that they might have missed but that is enough. You are not responsible for the wrongful assumptions of others.

Why is it clear? Even if we see in a later episode that he does drive her away, this does not prove that your current premise is correct or that you have arrived at a sound conclusion. How do you know that she has not driven herself away because of a misunderstanding? If he is giving her the choice to leave because he thinks that she only stays with him out of guilt or pity that is not driving her away - especially out of anger. If, as you say, he was angry, he would not have thanked her for healing him. Both characters are exhibiting what psychologists would call distorted thinking - more commonly known as falling into a thinking trap.

I don't think that you have analysed this properly and you are wrongly blaming the ML because of it. Rather than telling you why, read lulu's posts which will give another perspective which explains it quite well (She has written at least two.) Edit:five or six

What does it matter who watches or how many watch it? Does this information interfere with your viewing pleasure?…
I must admit that I had not considered that aspect of it - and I hope that you are right. I am not saying that this applies to you, but I see far too many posts on MDL which reflect unhealthy attitudes or perspectives. Also, I am struck by the number of viewers who will NOT even watch a drama unless the ratings are high enough.

No. We learn later that she swallowed it. For some reason though, the doctor puts her on a 14 day liquid diet. Well, if she broke off the pin/tail and just swallowed the 'head' that is feasible and might come out the other end but...

What does it matter who watches or how many watch it? Does this information interfere with your viewing pleasure? It was made; it is being shown; and it is there for you to enjoy - or not - regardless of those statistical figures. Much more healthy.

You are implying that only ZLH's fans are a bunch of delusional idiots. That is statistically impossible.
Apologies - and point taken. I had assumed that it was a generic response. It makes sense given that it is ZLH's fans who are being sued - in this instance. But otherwise...

So, her sect brother came down 3 years back, with permission? Perhaps, I missed something. 🤦🏽‍♀️
But then, I wonder if she tried to go with him - but if the scholars were not dead at that time, maybe she did not want to leave at that point - so what was that clip about her trying to leave but her sect brothers stopping her? (Unless they were trying to stop her because of the plague at the time) - but she learned to run for a reason. (I miss scenes, too.)
