The ending was so heartbreaking! Yes, it doesn't excuse the father' emotional neglect towards the FL and his wife but this episode unravels a lot of the intergeneration trauma that carries through as a result of lives lived under dictatorship and military regimen.

This show has lost the plot especially bringing back her disease. This is giving me those dramas with the white lotus FL where she suffers, and suffers until the very end until her death is used as catalyst for change.
