I agreed with you. He didnā€™t chose it. He sees through all the option and there is no other way. But itā€™s not force and not suicide, His choice here is self-sacrifice for greater good. Alternatively I was always thinking that he can choose to rule as DG since he is not controlled by DG 1.0, but he didnā€™t want to, as suffering will still continues and the pain from it will not transcend. So thatā€™s the choice he made, destroyed DG once and for all.
