The same cliche and boring story

This drama has nothing new neither fresh, it was funny but that was their strongest point (and all the memes that came from here).

Will you remember the message of the beauty? No, probably you will remember the okey dokey dance more, but it's natural since they didn't focused on female lead struggles with her appearance, they care more for the tedious love triangle. The story is that lame that the side characters are actual more interesting than the FL and that it's not okay cause she should carry the drama.

The second male lead, another great and charismatic character that ended up being a heartbroken guy till the end. I'm tired of that, why is so difficult to make him happy with another love or something. Anyway, he stole the show for me.

Waste of time

I don't understand the reason to make a third season if it's gonna recycle the same situations, the main couple breaking up again is so annoying, since season 2 I do think they shouldn't be together and now I reaffirm it, this webdrama didn't need a second season nor a third one. They keep adding idols actors but their characters are so boring, even repeat the roles of the sad one side love guy, and the villain girl from the previous season. Yeondu being locked in a room for the third time is enough, creativity left the chat. I hoped to see more maturing stories since the characters are now in college but they wasted the chance.

I'd like they focus on their other webdramas that have potential for more seasons, like Light On Me

It had the chance to be something better

Playlist resets its well known franquise "Love Playlist" with new cast, new songs, surprises but basic main story.

Gonna start with what I like, the supporting characters had a good development and althought Tae Yong didn't have his love story with his friend, and it's okay cause we saw they are friends and both were respecftul with their feelings. 2022 was the year of BL, multiple producers doing mini dramas and Playlist had saw the potential and made it with a realistic way.

But now what I dislike, once again, the same old story.... We both like each other but you know, I don't wanna risk our friendship so let's keep being just friends... of course, I'll date someone that I find attractive while you cry in your room and get over of your feelings... but don't date other guys cause I'll realize I have feelings for you and will get jealous, oh and now that I got ride of the other girl, I want you back cause you were about to be happy with someone else---- That's the story here. I can't believe that after 12 episodes of FL character development at the end she ends up with that Do Yoon boy, I'm dissapointed but not surprised, it's the same old story.

Waste of time

Better than I expected

When I found out Kang Daniel was gonna be the lead of this drama, I hesitated to watch it cause he has no previous experience in dramas but good that I gave it an opportunity. The story is not game changing, but it doesn't pretend to be one, it's interesting and easy to watch, cliches everywhere along with experiences you can only find in a police academy. The characters are growing as the drama drops more episodes, the love story is fast paced and cute, Chae Soobin and Kang Daniel have a beautiful chemistry and if you have reached episode 8 you can see it with your own eyes.
We are already in the half of the drama, but I love to see more of the friends group that I wish it has more episodes.

It's not what you think

Don't let the main poster of the drama fool you, this is not a drama about the three young people, it's just about PBG'a character and his family.

The drama actually presented in the first episode what's all about, the story of a young model who persuades his dream of becoming the top actor of Korea which becomes reality, he has various scandals, some families and relationship issues but after 16 episodes he made it. Oh but if you expected to see this drama -like me- because of the actress from the Oscar winning film Parasite, Park So Dam. Well, bad news cause she became successful and achieved her dream in a freaking second where 2 years happened.

The drama is so cliche, I don't even know why dating is a scandal but they dragged the story too much for this, and all the focus on the gay fashion designer, I have seen better treatment of the lgbtq community in Itaewon Class.

It had potential

I was really waiting for this webdrama since the first teaser was released, the story looked promising and the cast pretty cool but it was more disappointing every new episode, the idea is good and they had 22 episodes to develop it, BUT that's where they lacked, the couple started dating in the last episode when we all were waiting for it to happen soon, the main plot was rushed at the end, they lied to all the school but it was resolved easily, the story of Minjae was uncompleted, just flashbacks to try to understand what happened to her and her ex, the introvert Minjae acting was so so, even for a webdrama.

The only highlight for me was the friendship story of the two Minjaes

A waste of time

Story: The story is lame, the FL says how much she hates the father of her daughter during the major part of the drama and then she falls in love with him again 🙄 The story is so predictable.

Acting/Cast: The majority of the cast did it well, it's a rom-com so they didn't need much acting skills except for the FL. She has to work her facial expressions, her acting feels so unnatural and forced.

Music: It has a good OST but no song is really remarkable.

Rewatch value: No way, it was a waste of time watching 10 episodes.

Worst drama I've seen lately

A drama that failed because the hottest topic was "which male character should the female lead end up with"

"Cheer Up" had everything to be the best college drama of 2022, except a good script. The focus on the love triangle was tedious and unnecessary, while supporting characters had better stories than the main cast, they were barely explored. A wasted potential for a cast full of rising stars from hit dramas, I really waited a lot of this for being Han JiHyun's first lead role.

I liked it at the beginning, the cheerleader set up was their strongest point but it was put aside to center in the mystery that literally doesn't make sense, everything at the end is thrown into a bad joke. As for the main characters, they barely have development. Hae Yi is immature and takes bad decisions, the no solved Sun Ho's obsession for Hae Yi is the worst, it made the love triangle tedious and annoying, JungWoo has no personality nor an interesting background, like he is so plain... no one of them is memorable neither lovable. The main couple breaking up in the last episodes, writer reallydid the bare minimum.

A beautiful mess

About this drama...

What I like: The character development of Rara and how she learned to be independent, in the last episode we find out she's a recognized piano teacher. There are very good sub stories like the love story of Seung Gi and Ha Yeong, Ha Yeong and her single mother, the relationship of Dr. Cha and his ex wife, Jaemin as a piano prodigy, etc. There were so many good stories but the writer couldn't explode the potential they have.

What I dislike:
The unnecessary plot twists like Jun being a minor (18 years old), the illness of Jun in the last episodes, the rushed finale and the tedious love triangle but at least this didn't last long.

Personal Rate: 8.5/10
~ I describe this drama as a "beautiful mess" cause it was full of good stories honestly there were more good moments than the ones I didn't like, there was potential to be a heartwarming drama but it wasn't ejected in a way I could enjoy completely.

Average college drama but I liked it

been waiting for this drama since they announced it in 2020, with high expectations looking at the cast, and the production by playlist. I thought it would be a more mature drama but it fell in the cliche, it's not something bad but in 2022 it might look old fashioned. I liked the general concept of the letters dedicated to Dear.M and the plot twist at the end, plus the message is fresh and well done.

What I like:
- I like the chemistry of both, girls and boys squads, they gave me the friends vibes.
- the osts (wish they were released)
- the few relatable college situations presented, like looking for a dream, the reality of looking for a job, financial problems
- the three couples had good chemistry but my favorite one was Young and MokJin
- the inclusion of a character with diabetes, it shows a reality
- cha minho and his sister, i loved the story of the siblings

What I dislike:
- the way they put third parties in their relationships to make the story goes longer... Ro Sa, Yi Dam and the other girl.
- not a good closure, the main characters of course had their happy ending but the side characters like Ro Sa or Moon Joon barely show a character development, and they need it
- rushed ending
- would have liked to see more of the third couple
- the secondary couple doesn't feel like the one presented in Love Playlist, and its not because of the actress change, but 'cause they were written differently from what we have already seen, They should have just created other characters, it doesn't really matter if the drama is not connected to the webdrama

overall the drama is enjoyable, it has comedy, college life, friendship, first love stories, romance, slice of life

"The Love Equations" is a sweet, light and heart warming love story with the cliches we have already seen in previous college/school dramas but with a touch that makes it more real and relatable, the drama has no ambitions and it's sad cause the story can explore more or different situations related to the leads, their relationship and people around them but it follows the first love relationship story. This drama shares elements of the previous works of its writer (A Love So Beautiful and Put Your Head On My Shoulder) which are very notable but this did not bother me cause I knew what I was gonna get when I started to watch it.

WHAT I LIKE
- Chemistry between the leads and the cast in general.
- The female lead, Zhou Xiao is really a highlight of this drama.
- The male lead, FanZhou faces his familial problems at the same time he tries to be a good boyfriend.
- The love story, I like how we can see the growth of the couple relationship, from their very first met until their wedding.
- The female squad, the four girls were likable and relatable in their own way, there was a space for their stories and their friendship feel natural.
- Mental Health, we could see how FanZhou's mother could overcome her bipolar disorder with the help of her family.
- No second lead syndrome, I like Cai Yasi but FanZhou was always the only one who could gain the heart of the female lead.

WHAT I DISLIKE
- The finale feels rushed, after the one year they were separated their relationship was not the same, they needed more time get back together. Their reconciliation could have been better.
- The recycled annoying girl, Yu Chan.
- The show lost its essence, it started with the detective club but at the middle this stop being relevant for the plot.
- Not enough character development, the characters go for a limited line and show only the necessary feelings for the plot.
- Not balance in the story, the plot with FanZhou's mother would have been better in the middle so we could see more of their relationship at the end too.

ACTING
I think the cast did well during the drama, no actor makes me feel uncomfortable with her/his acting and actually actors make the characters likable. Simon Gong played perfectly the role of Zhao FanZhou with his expressive eyes, you can feel how he is falling in love with the female lead watching his them and most of the time he is the one who starts the romantic moments- including the kisses. Liu Ren Yu did it pretty good for her first lead role, she has a good chemistry with her co-star, and also with her friends which is important cause the drama has a space for female friendship.

PRODUCTION
In general, the drama is too bright to the point I had to low the bight to share scenes of it, the close ups are very exaggerated in some scenes and the edition in the last episodes looks rushed. The soundtrack in the drama goes well with the scenes, I want to highlight the song "Sweet Little Happiness" performed by Reyi (Liu Ren Yu) cause it's the one that reminds me this drama the most, the voice of the female lead is as sweet as the drama.

RE-WATCH VALUE
I will rewatch the cute moments of the couple from the first episodes.

PERSONAL RATE 9/10
The drama stands up in its category cause although it follows a well-known formula the characters were improved, especially the female lead. The plot is enjoyable without any crazy dramatic plot twist at the end. Perfect medicine for a rainy day

The cast carry the drama

About this drama

What I like: The cast was so good with acting and chemistry, both female leads had all my attention in their scenes, the potential romance was wasted but I enjoyed the main couple —they have an indescribable chemistry. The first episodes were so good, I was really into the story.

What I dislike: The different course the drama took with each episode, wasted potential with a good cast and story, messed up plot mixed with another conglomerates fight — I actually thought the drama was gonna be about con artists because of the first episode but it wasn't what I was looking for. Not enough screen time for Seohyun (Joo Eun) it's weird the first episode was all about her and then she appeared less and less.

Personal rate: 8/10
~ It's a good idea to watch this drama if you're looking for spies stories mixed with a little of romance.
