This is another drama I watched well before I started writing short reviews, so this is based solely on memory and general impressions.This was a really fun watch for me. I remember finding it hilarious from beginning to end. At the same time, it also had a few twists, hidden identities, and more serious moments that gradually shifted the theatrics into genuine investigations of past events.

A Mid-Tier Drama I Didn't Mind Watching
I watched this well before I started this group and long before I began documenting reviews after watching. Because of that, this review is based solely on my memory from nearly six years ago.That said, I remember enjoying this series, though I didn’t love it or every sequence, which is why it's placed in a mid-range rating. I enjoyed the storyline, especially since transmigration stories were still very new to me at the time. However, I also remember some pacing issues that occasionally made it difficult to stay fully engaged. And while I have a general positive impression of the drama, many of the specific details weren’t especially memorable to me.
One thing I always consider with any series though is if it was worth the watch. A series can be an alright experience overall and still deliver something meaningful by the end. Although I don't know how I would feel in 2026 having watched so many other great dramas, this was a worthwhile experience in 2020.

Engaging Premise, Weak Payoff
I have mixed feelings. I thought the main leads did a great job performing, they worked very well together. And while the supporting cast was weaker for me, I didn’t mind since this is short-form content and somewhat expected with lower-budget dramas. I was engaged with the main storyline, but some of the subplots felt unconvincing or lazy. The climax also let me down, coming across as underdeveloped. And I struggled with the ending, finding elements of it unsatisfying and had to use my imagination to fill in the gaps. Overall, I’d call this a rainy-day watch.Was this review helpful to you?
Good Performances, Repetitive Storytelling
I’m sorry folks, but this ended up being just an okay watch for me. I thought the opening was exciting, and I loved seeing Li Muchen and Ye Shengjia in lead roles together again. There were a few poignant and comedic moments that really elevated the drama, and the overall theme is something I usually love in cinematic stories—cultivation and mysticism. But as the story progressed, I felt the narrative didn’t show much growth. It was frequently interrupted by predictable conflicts that you knew would be resolved, yet still dragged on and felt repetitive. A Worthwhile Watch for Han Dong Fans
I enjoyed the overall experience, but I was unsatisfied with the ending. The film includes several great action sequences, and the narrative itself is engaging, following two sisters with contrasting personalities and challenges, as well as their relationship with the male lead. I think it's a solid Han Dong film for those looking to see more of his work in a leading role. Strong Chemistry, Engaging Storyline
While I felt the final episode lost some of the story's logical flow and coherence, I greatly enjoyed this overall. It would have been difficult not to considering "My Journey to You" and "The Only Girl You Haven't Seen" are two of my favorites. This drama blends elements together, but I felt Hu Yiyao and Wang Xuan did a great job interpreting them as a miniseries. Two Souls Connected: Intriguing & Emotional
Wow. I absolutely loved this and would wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone.The drama centers on two leads whose lives become mysteriously intertwined during a critical mission. As the story unfolds, unexpected twists reveal that nothing is quite what it seems. It reminded me of Cang Lan Jue (the novel behind Love Between Fairy and Devil), where the leads share a unique spiritual bond that deepens their connection over time. That same soulful connection here adds layers of identity and moral complexity, enriching both the characters and the overall narrative.

Could Have Been Good, But Wasn't
I’m a huge Lin Zehui fan—but I was all over the place with this drama. While the narrative was engaging and Lin Zehui’s performance was top-notch, I struggled to connect with the female lead’s character and personality. This fragmented the dynamic between the leads and made me biased against her role, which in turn closed me off to any character development—which often felt like two steps forward and five steps back. I found fault with many of her decisions—partly due to the script—but it still affected how I received the drama overall. I was also disappointed with the ending. A Classic Midway Shift
I’m sorry, folks, but this just wasn’t my cup of tea. I really wanted to love it — especially since I’m a big fan of Li Geyang and Huang Haoyue. I thought their performances were fantastic and well-executed, and the beginning of the drama really pulled me into the story. However, about a third to halfway through, the narrative started to change for me. Developments felt predictable, and the drama didn’t seem to explore them in compelling ways. I also found some of the character shifts unconvincing. It felt like a once-strong character suddenly made decisions that felt totally out of line with how they were introduced at the beginning. This was somewhat jolting, and didn’t engage or entertain me.I understand what the narrative was aiming for, but for me, it just didn't work.
Overall, the direction didn’t quite land. So, I was disappointed to see that kind of inconsistency given how promising the story was at the start.

An Unexpected Gem in a Martial Arts World
I loved this drama, and I wasn’t expecting it. I hadn't heard about it beforehand and I’m not familiar with most of the performers—they aren’t actors I’ve seen in other dramas. Still, there was something about the storyline that drew me in almost immediately.The opening sets up an underlying premise that isn’t fully explored beyond the first episode, but it’s something the plot continues to build toward throughout the series and helps keep you engaged. The story features recurring sect competitions to become masters of martial arts and alchemy, along with character development and minor subplots that come together near the end. This may be a niche within a niche: it’s heavy on martial arts, with high-level techniques tied to elemental bloodlines, making the characters feel more like deities than traditional martial artists. I’m not typically a fan of this genre, but I found it quite interesting.

Grows Into Something Special
I really enjoyed this series. I thought it ended strong and was thoroughly satisfying. That said, it might be the kind of drama that takes time to grow for some viewers.For me, the early episodes felt a bit uneven. The premise, with its transmigration twist, offered a compelling blend of comedy and intrigue, though the plot lines were obvious. And for every episode that drew me in, there were a few with lighter, less substantial storylines. Still, they didn’t overstay their welcome, and I found myself increasingly engaged with the main narrative.
Overall, I felt the cast gave solid performances. While a few characters could have benefited from more development, I thought the acting carried the story well. I was in tears by the final episode, which speaks to how invested I became.

Surprisingly Fun and Absurd
I wasn’t sure how I felt when I first started watching this—I didn’t quite understand the direction. But the longer I watched, the clearer it became that this isn’t meant to be a serious drama. It’s highly comedic and intentionally absurd. The story centers around a vampire who enters a marriage alliance with a mortal trapped in a virtual reality game. This structure kept me engaged from start to finish, and I’d definitely recommend watching it—with one disclaimer. While the story wraps up well, it does leave room for a second season—though there's been no update so far. A Unique Sequel That Falls Short in Execution
This was a nice follow-up to the original drama, but unfortunately, it was just okay for me. Again, I am glad that I watched and would do it again. I think its unique storyline blends well with a Republic Era spin and does a good job at accomplishing a supernatural narrative. I also really loved the new storyline and roles. I found myself deeply invested in their backstories, which helped better understand the origins of multiple characters—including many supporting ones. However, I felt like this drama failed in execution, focusing on characters whose decision-making and behaviors were frustrating. I was also disappointed by personality shifts, as well as several tropes that served to separate the leads purely for the sake of prolonging the plot.Once again, I thought this drama had such a unique narrative with tons of onscreen potential. I wonder how it would be reinterpreted with a fresh approach that edited down some of the filler sequences.

Not Every Episode Lands, But An Anthology Worth Watching
I enjoyed watching this, though not all the way through—and I’m not sure it’s meant to be experienced that way. The drama is structured like an anthology, with stories that don’t directly connect and can be watched as standalone pieces. However, they’re tied together through shared locations and an overarching theme.Each vignette focuses on everyday people in ordinary situations, showing how they play meaningful roles in the world around them. The slice-of-life approach feels like it’s offering a glimpse into different lives in China, highlighting aspects of the culture and social fabric shaped by these experiences. Some characters are connected to key moments across different eras, reflecting certain values or social norms. They may be ordinary individuals, but their lives help capture a particular time period or suggest how one generation influences the next.
Overall, I think it’s a good watch—as long as you’re okay with not loving every episode or skipping a few that don’t quite land. Here are the episodes I enjoyed most: 1-2, 5-6, 7-8, 13-14, 15, 17, 23, and 24.

The Perfect In-Between Drama
I thought this was a cute, quick watch. It was light enough to enjoy while coming down from a heavy drama, but still developed and engaging enough to hold my attention. I usually have a hard time investing in something new right after an intense series, so mini-dramas have been my go-to in-between watches.
