What the what??!

Are there cases where people come out of a traumatic event recounting an entirely different life? If so, drama good. If not, drama bad. Why have the main character travel back in time to inhabit a different life? This drama essentially merged 2 different lives of women and man that look very much alike.

So. Is the male character going to go through the same traumatic event as the main character? Will they be a blue birthday situation?
