The gatekeeping doesn't bother me usually. I don't mind them wanting to get paid for their work. The reason that I ranted this time was that the subber deliberately waited for the last episodes to make them premium, with no mention of this from the start so that people could decide if they are willing to pay or if they would rather not start the drama at all.
Update: the subber has read my previous ranting post (see bellow) and is now apparently willing to let us watch the last episodes for free. MDL ranting works!
For anyone tempted to try and watch this with subtitles, a word of advice: don't bother trying if you're broke. The subber has locked the last three weeks behind a pay wall. I don't mind them wanting to get paid, but I resent them not being upfront about it from the beginning. I resent them playing tricks and not telling us from the start that the final episodes weren't going to be free. It's not about the money. It's about the dishonesty. Even if I had the money I would be too angry to pay.
How good is it this new season? Im a big fan of the 1st season and why Shi Jia is only support role in this?
Not as good as season one. The patients and their stories are still the best in DramaLand, but the parts with the doctors private lives are not so good, especially in the second half of the season. I would say this is still better than a lot of other medical dramas, just not the masterpiece that season one was.
I don't think it's realistic that Doctor Lin would be part of the heart transplant discussion. I mean, seriously, his brother is a candidate for a heart transplant, and they are letting him decide who gets the heart? That's a major conflict of interest and has big lawsuit potential.
The actress playing the woman with Alzheimer's is so good! The way she goes from lucid to confused, the way she has all the nervous ticks, and mostly the way she suddenly gets angry and lashes out. I'm sure she has had this terrible illness in her family, because everything she does is spot on.

I don't think they killed her, I think it was only a scratch because Makoto couldn't do it. You can see from the few droplets blood on the floor. If he really shot her in the head, there would be blood all over the place. And how she's sitting alone at the end: shegot her life but she lost her little brothers. The scene with the parents that most viewers see as a macabre reunion: I think it's closure.
I have a different interpretation of the ending than what I've read other people think. I wonder if the idea was to leave it up to the viewers to decide. I can appreciate that murky approach, but I do like more concrete endings.
This is interesting to me because I myself had a rough childhood. I always thought that professionals were too hasty in labeling kids that aren't "normal" and far too quick in medicating them. So I like the dramas approach of gentle understanding. But a kid who gets violent tantrums all the time? I don't know if a gentle touch is enough here. Surely there has to be a middle ground between filling a kid with psychiatric drugs and art therapy.
