Honestly, I didn't love this drama as much as I hoped. The chemistry is phenomenal and actually enough to make this a memorable drama. The plot is well.. good to an extent but the last episodes feel lackluster-ish and it feels like there is too much filler at certain points. I would be screaming best periodical cdrama if they had shortened the political talks by about 20% and leaned a bit more into the comedy (which was genuinely working). With the extra time I would have loved to see a bit more of the leads in the last episodes. But don't get me wrong, I was eating up the slow burn because the chemistry and eye game they have is insane. Very hot and very swoony. Xiao Heng's eyeliner deserves a whole fandom of its own.
I don't think the acting was as bad as the comments make it seem. I think the script is just shit. Rich kid pressured by mean father realizes her and her friends' influence in the school and feels bad about it. Oh no she has no place to go ... but her mom is literally alive so what even was the problem with her dad disowning her. Oh nooo you aren't rich anymore? So sad. At least the weird ass teacher got what she deserved.
I stumbled upon this movie by accident and I feel like I'm living in this movie. I didn't manage to get a job for the summer so I ended up coming to parents' place and while here, I've learned to love our garden, the feeling I get from gathering wild herbs and cooking delicious foods. Watching this movie a few months ago would have made me feel sad and jealous but now it makes me feel at peace. I love this little quiet life that I'm leading currently. My heart feels lighter than it has in years.
Ji Sung is so charismatic it's crazy how well he does in these roles. I like this a lot so far. (ps. when did mdl turn into people exclusively crying about ratings instead of talking about the actual drama? Just rate it yourself and enjoy the drama until the end lol. I've been here for a few years and I almost always rate after the last episode like many others. I can't be bothered to rate every episode of every drama so most likely the ratings are accurate only a bit after a drama ends airing.)
I can't believe I'm saying this but I actually enjoyed ep 7 and 8 a lot. I was fully thinking I'd need to drop this drama because I was so bored and skipped so much in the earlier episodes but naah the romance is romancing and I'm loving it.
Aaah I wish this had been longer. The characters were good, and so was the plot, but it felt like the final episode wasn't the final until the last few moments.
So, something you have to know about this director is that many of his dramas critique something within Korean…
I mean, I did get the point. I have nothing against the serious social criticism and I think it was easy to point out in the first half but it still wasn't a good way to start the drama. We barely got any insight into what FL was thinking about the whole ordeal and the pace was way too slow. The beginning of a drama is supposed to lure people in to stay watching. And this did a very poor job at it.
Okay first of all the talk in the restaurant with the Korean teacher was so intense I get almost did not breath…
Your last point is sooo true. It's pretty wild how their entire education system is about memorizing stuff when critical & creative thinking are almost more important skills in real life.
I don't know how I feel about this. The first half of the episode was incredibly boring and honestly just a bad way to start off a drama. This told me absolutely nothing about the characters. Just boring and way too long convos about a literary question. Okay, why should I care? Make me care about anything about this drama or its characters before you throw in a plotpoint. BUT I can already feel that Hajoon is gonna be amazing in a romance drama. His whole being just fits being a romance drama ML. The second half also got significantly better and I liked the colors and the vibe much more. Almost felt like watching two different dramas.
At least the weird ass teacher got what she deserved.
Hot gangster ahjussi who looks dangerous but is actually a cinnamon roll, is all I needed rn.
but I still keep watching so I guess I don't find this that bad
dropped
