I'm still enjoying this show but think they're making it up as they go along. Does it want to be a medical drama, police drama, Serial K!ller drama or love story??

i think the real life couple are Jin young and Ju Won. They're the same age, rich and work in the same industry.

i thought s1 had people who were perhaps neurodivergent in some way so it was lovely to see them interacting and developing.
s2 people seem more neurotypical and the show feels more scripted and directed to increase tension and tears.
Han Ju was introduced as a "hard drinking city girl" which is not a particularly flattering description.
Hyun Jook just keeps showing his dimples every time the camera pans to him.
Su Ji sometimes seems a bit manic and comes over (to me) as a newbie actress in her first leading role.
I'm not enjoying this season as much as s1.

And I agree with your observation about the low rating. I've been increasing my initial rating every week, currently at 8.5!

This season is not as heartwarming as s1. The panel seem a bit catty with their comments as well.

This may seem weird but i think they're cannibals!! 😱
1) villain wife kept commenting she's hungry when she picked up Seyhun .
2) There's a lot of rooms where people are kept.
3)the mallet had fresh blood on it. whose blood?
4) References to the smell, the ice melting, ribs and lots of rubbish being disposed.
just a theory/observation!!

There are a number of things I find ridiculous: the ineptitude of the police who don't seem to know how to do detective work or query the use of AI, an old police people carrier maintaining speed with an Audi A4 car, the constant running upstairs in a building (which annoys me in any film/show), the length of time spent on showing Seyhun trying to retrieve the metal to cut her binds, yet we don't see her, a rock climber, get up to the ceiling, the very obvious pick up by the female villain after running at speed through a dark wood, the appearance of the female dr in a deserted hospital. It's ok though, it's just a drama and I'm enjoying it.

Agree. The Haunted Palace was a better story. The acting in East Palace was great especially the last episode.

Good acting and Queen Dowager actress was a stand out for me. Nice CGI and AI especially in the ep8 fight scene. There are a couple of shots with dodgy lighting.
Story wise, The Haunted Palace (2025) is a more cohesive story and entertaining show.
This had strong Chinese Xanxia vibes, particularly with all the mouth bl**d!

A very enjoyable show with great acting from the cast.
The actors playing the twins were very good. Nice production values too. Well done to all involved! Recommended.

it is niche and also features older people in the leads, so it doesn't grab attention. I thought it was very good but I'm only seeing minimal discussion about it, and even then most of the focus is on Lee Kang rather than Heo Mun-ho who I think is an utterly pathetic man.

absolutely agree. This was cinema! Unpredictable,well acted,dark comedy, sensual and a satisfying comeuppance. One of the best this year for me.
