I don't think you can expect that much romance from this drama, not like it's the most important thing to me. It seems to follow a similar path, more like TBY and MLC.

I only watched about 5 episodes when it was being released and dropped it, so I kind of forgot how it worked, so I couldn't say for sure if it was similar or not. I only remember that the protagonist was very strong, lol.

Up to episode 8, it feels like a drama structured around different arcs, each aiming to deliver a distinct emotional climax. I’d say it’s somewhat closer to Shen Li. I’m not too sure about Tiger and Rose if I’m thinking of the right one, that leaned more into comedy and felt a bit shallow at times, though this one isn’t drastically different.

I think it’s worth watching until episode 8 (where I stopped). That point seems like it might be the peak of the mortal arc, which didn’t really hook me—I had trouble connecting with the characters, especially Duan Xu, who didn’t leave much of an impact on me. Still, I’m willing to keep going mainly because of Dilraba.

As for the visuals, they seem to go for a darker tone while still keeping a strong fantasy vibe. You can really see that when He Si Mu uses her powers (I think around episode 6 or 7). So it balances that “dark” feel with something more magical.

The way the story unfolds makes it seem like the drama will gradually explain itself over time. You can see that in how Duan Xu’s storyline has been stretched across quite a few episodes, suggesting a slower, more layered buildup.

As for mindset, I’d say go in without high expectations. It’s not the kind of drama that will blow your mind, but it’s not bad either—though it’s still early to say much since I’ve only watched 8 episodes.

They said the fight in episode 8 was really good, so I went in with such high expectations, but it was just okay 😥. It'll be cool when they get to the supernatural arc because the editors did a great job adjusting the color of the effects to the environment so they don't look out of place, which is rarely done in Chinese dramas.

What ruins this type of drama for me, even though I've quite enjoyed the episodes I've seen so far, is that they always end up having unnecessary and irritating elements that the Chinese screenwriters seem unable to avoid. I hope this one manages to do something different, although the irritating elements are obvious from miles away. (The color correction chosen for this drama is very good. It's somewhat "dark," but it also has that fantasy tone.)

Yeah, it’s not that important. I just find it funny from a numbers perspective. It’ll probably stabilize over time since it’s still in the hype phase.

Hopefully it falls because it's kind of unfair. Out of 20 dramas in the site's top 20 rating, most had over 50,000 votes, and then you see the one in 3rd place with 7,000 ratings. Speaking in percentage terms, it's pretty messed up.

The sequel was released in 2023 with the title "Battle Through the Heaven", but it seems to have been a total failure, as they couldn't bring back the entire cast from the first one. Now, whether it's good or not, I don't know because apparently it didn't resonate with many people to watch the drama without the main characters. Since I'm watching it for the first time, it makes sense to me not to watch the second one if it seems to be this bad. And because of the ending of this one, I've already been spoiled by the reviews.

Thoughts after finishing episode 10 (very small but predictable spoiler)

Well, I believe that of the two dramas I've seen that were released in 2026, this was the better one. Even so, I think it didn't grab me that much. I feel like I didn't really connect with the characters, and I found the pacing quite inconsistent.

There are episodes where the drama progresses a lot, and then in the next one it seems to stay in place, getting stuck on things from a couple of episodes ago with flashbacks, actions, etc. (I know it's for context and also to fit into the plot that follows). But in the end, when you combine this pacing with the fact that I couldn't connect with or empathize with the characters, the emotional scenes that were supposed to have an impact on me simply didn't hit as hard, at least for me.

Another factor is that I don't really understand the actions of some characters. For example, when it's “revealed” that Kong-Na is the president's daughter, Hong and Bok end up being hostile towards her. But she isn't to blame for being the daughter of someone like that, so it felt a bit disconnected to me considering the overall context of what happened.

If this were a year ago, I would have already dropped this drama. But nowadays I tend to prioritize the entertainment a work delivers rather than focusing too much on its plot coherence and similar aspects. So, at the end of the day, all I can really do is finish it, keep laughing here and there, and of course continue watching it because of the wonderful Park Shin Hye.

In the end, it probably won't have that big of an impact on me, so I believe its rating will end up somewhere between 8.0 and 8.4, maybe. So that's it — a good drama for entertainment.

Maybe I'll do that when the drama is halfway through, because then if it catches my eye and I want to watch it all at once, I have 20 episodes to watch 😊

That's great, I like that combination, but I think in the end I'll wait until it's finished to binge-watch it all at once. Waiting for episodes has always been quite annoying for me. And when I forget about the drama, it ends up being over and I didn't even realize it. I hope this one stays good until the end, since nowadays it's not common for a 40-episode drama to maintain its pace and be interesting until the end 🙌

I really wanted to start this drama because of the cast, but I don't know, when a drama is very well-rated and is being released, especially Chinese ones, I end up dropping it. It's going to be torture waiting until it's finished and seeing reviews.

Irmão eu nem sei oque é blink (apenas o mitinho), se você olhar a maioria dos dramas que eu assisti vai ter uma opinião dos primeiros eps. Não é pq vc achou ruim que eu tenho que achar tbm, é só mais um rom-com 7.5. Well, I don't know what people expected from a rom-com in 2026. This "genre" is literally for entertainment, not for you to leave crying or enchanted by the acting. It's just a normal drama to laugh at. Up to episode 5 I haven't found any irritating aspect that would make me drop the drama, even knowing there's gratuitous hate for Jisoo. This is the only drama I've seen her in, so the acting feels normal to me, neither too exaggerated nor too natural. So people will probably drop the drama because of that. But I don't know, the drama is a solid 7.5 so far and believe it or not that score isn't bad yet. At least for recent releases. Hopefully it won't start getting irritating from now on and it will keep this pacing, which I quite liked.

Every time I see Seo In Guk, he looks more and more like Faker—especially when he’s wearing glasses. Maybe I’m going crazy, but he really does resemble him.

My conclusion about this drama is that it goes nowhere. I wish I had liked the second couple more and honestly I didn’t really like the first one either, but the cinematography makes me give it an 8.0 otherwise it would be a 7.5. It’s not a bad drama, just frustrating. I wrote this when I was halfway through episode 8 because with the time the drama has had and the way it developed, there’s no way these last two episodes can change my mind and make me give it a 9, which would be too high for this drama. Not that 8.0 or 7.5 is bad.

It's funny that this drama was the last one out of about 20 that I finished that I haven't increased the speed of yet, and I'm genuinely enjoying it to the fullest. If I'm not mistaken, this also happened to me with Gaus Eletronics; I think this type of drama is good for me (hopefully I'll continue not increasing the speed even knowing that the second half is different from the beginning).

I already started this drama laughing when it says it's set in 2030, but the Range Rovers that appear are from 2022 lol.

While I find the protagonist cool, I also find him irritating. I don't know, maybe watching so many dramas with almost perfect characters makes me dislike characters like the protagonist of this drama as much. In this case, characters with a more "realistic" writing style, even though I haven't seen many people like him in real life, it's not like I hate him, it just doesn't grab me as much because while he seems like a real character, he doesn't appear natural either; it also seems a bit forced. But the actor managed to make the character quite acceptable with his good acting.
