Huo Ling Long, the eldest daughter of Linglong Manor, runs away from home in order to escape from an unwanted arranged marriage. During her journey, she meets a mysterious man in black with seemingly peerless martial arts. The man is severely wounded and relentlessly chased by Jianghu factions of both good and evil. Despite his injuries, he continuously helps Huo Ling Long escape from danger. Both curious and slightly intrigued, Huo Ling Long later learns that this man is actually the "Southern Hero", Zhan Zhao.
