Question: for C Dramas what distinguishes “idol” from “non-idol”? In K Dramas, it typically refers to…
It was like that in the beginning, nowadays it just refers to romantic dramas with liulang actors and plots done for pure entertainment rather deep reflexions.
So the extra episode is the real ending, ok, at least they are asking money for something worthy not promising gold and giving us only cut scenes, looking at you Splendid Match.
I believe that this drama is very well balanced. There are other stories where one thing steals from another,…
They had a very prudish kiss two times, that is it. And, yes, romance is not only about kisses, but the way they behaved is not compatible with a young couple in love, they looked like close friends, even alies sometimes, but there was no passion at all. Also, some scenes like the aphrodisiac are so out of place what was the idea behind that scene, what was the writer's goal? Because it didn't give anything, no passion, no romance, sounded like getting rid of some bothersome business. It was bummer.

The romance wasn't a sugar fest, it was nothing, not even kisses, and to the point that they doesn't seem like a loving young couple, it is not realistic.
After so long, I'm still not over the divorce arc and find myself thing about it someday or another day. The way the ML reacted is so out of place with his reason. He spent days ghosting her, then when he comes back, he burns that paper, that represented how she saved his life when he was in his lower point in life, in her face. He then says he can't accept her coming to him because of guilt. So at this point he really believes she does not love him at all and thinks giving her the divorce letter is giving her freedom. First, isn't it such a huge overaction from him? If this is his reason, was it enough to make him burn the paper and ghost her for days? It was an arranged marriage, he didn't love her at first too! Also, how can he really believe in that when she looks so desperate and sad in front of him, she does not look like a person that wants freedom? He is so smart, how can't he see it? Second, she is always so good with words, why she suddenly doesn't talk, why she didn't say she loved him, again, because she had said days before, but why can't she say it again during the fight? So OOC. Third, two days later he goes to her senior, then goes to Lishan and says he regrets it, so, he now believes she loves him, he doesn't think it is only guilt anymore? What made him change his mind about that?Just discovering Lishan is deserted does not change her feelings about him. Or he just decided to be with her even thinking she does not love him? So he stays with her out of guilt, the same thing he accused her of doing...We don't get this answer because after they comeback to the capital, it is as if nothing has happened, they don't talk about it again, they don't even show what happened with the divorce letter. I know it was a plot they used just as an excuse to comeback to Lishan, but at least make it make sense! It ends up a an arc that everyone wants to forget it existed, because thinking about it makes your head hurt for trying to tie it with the rest of the story.
I felt the ML and FL LOVE and INTIMACY thats what drew me in and made me love them both and their acting......it…
"over the top" as if Chinese dramas has ever had any over the top scene, it always had just the bare minimum to make the romance between the leads believable. Their distance is one of the reasons people questioned if the FL lead really loved him, it shows that they were so distant that it damaged the plot to some extent. Fortunately this drama does not have a love triangle because it if had and the SML was an popular idol I can't imagine the war it would have created among drama fans (looking at you Splendid Match).
The romance part of the plot is definitely the worst one. Not because it didn't have appeal, but because it was not developed, only one kiss scene (I won't count the forehead kiss or the fish lip touch as kisses), no bed scene, very few hugs and skin ships. Having these two actors paired together and not developing their romance just feels like a waste.
