I have the same thoughts as you and that whole scene made me so angry!! On what grounds are you questioning her?? He hasn't confessed to her and has been arrogant to her from the beginning, and as far as I remember, he hasn't apologized to her ONCE for any of that sh**t he pulled. 😑 I'm trying to keep in mind that he is young and immature and is dealing with his own trauma, but he still makes me annoyed and angry. 😒 The actor is doing a really good job on portraying the character, hahha :D

Yes, eventually, but only after ShSh leaves and they get some distance between them. And after SHSH shows her she understands a parent's struggles through talks with the empress. I think close to the end she realizes she did wrong and it was her fault.
Every time I rewatch the series, I am pissed off at ShaoShangs's mother. I understand that she is a tough woman, strict and stubborn, but come on! She abandoned!!! her daughter. It was HER choice and coming back after 15 years she punishes and blames her for turning out the way she has, when it was HER fault all along. All ShSh did was become tough so she could survive. And instead of understanding this, giving her love she lacked ALL her life, teaching her patiently (like her aunt and Empress does) she finds fault with her every time. It's like instead of blaming herself for choosing to abandon her when she was born, she takes it out on her daughter. So unfair! (I know, I know, it's for the plot, if ShSh didn't suffer, she would not be the FL, I'm just venting my frustration here :D )
