It started out really good, but lost it cuteness quite quickly...

I am quite new in watching Thai BL series (and overall Asian Tv-shows and movies). Cutie Pie was one of the first ones I watched in real time having to wait every week for the new episode to come. That being said, I was actually looking forward to this show. It seemed interesting enough based on the trailer. However, during the middle I started to think about droping it, but managed to push through. In the end I felt that something was missing. Like... the series ended, but it didn't feel like it really closed anything. This show really left me hanging. Nothing seemed finalised in the end.

I will talk about different things that I liked and didn't like about the show next. So, there may be some spoilers - you have been warned! If you don't want to read further I would say that give it a try, but be critical and don't excpect anything mindblowing.

Story: I actually really liked the idea/story of this show, but I don't think they managed to execute it very well. The arranged marriage, childhood friends and double life seemed interesting enough to me. I would say that for about first 5 episodes I actually liked the show, but it lost it charm, when I started to feel very uncomfortable about two main couples, because their relationships started to feel very controlling and toxic to me. I would never think that this kind of acting in loving relationship is acceptable. Also what made me dislike the show was endless miscommunication that lasted until the end and in my opinion never got resolved. It was draged and draged until it made me frustrated and bored at the same time. I also felt like there was a lot of backstory, that we as viewers didn't know about, and therefore a lot of things didn't make sense. For example during most of the series I seriously couldn't understand the story of Yi and Diao. It felt like half of their plot was withheld from us.

Acting: I would say, that the acting wasn't anything extraordinary. If I should praise anyone, I would praise NuNew since it was his first main role and in my opinion he managed to do very well. I definitely felt his emotions. As for Zee and Max... I felt that their acting was quite minimal and repetitive - they were either smirking, sending death glares, smiling or just wearing blank unreadable expression. I do have to say, that Zee acted well through his eyes, but if anything else is not following, it is not very good acting. I must say that chemistry between actors was good. All relationships felt natural and not forced. I really enjoyed scenes where Kuea was with his school friends.

Music: I don't know much about Asian music, but I really liked the soundtrack of this series. I felt that it often carried on the emotion of the show or complemented it. Definitely enjoyed this part! NuNew's voice is angelic!

Cinematography: I am no expert in this field, but I think the scenes were beatifully shot and filming locations were nicely chosen. The editing was also okay, in my opinion.

Ending and starting monologues: I wanted to point them out because I really liked them! Even though at the end everything was a mess I felt that the monologue at least gave you a good feeling at the end.
