Honest question to people who know the culture. I noticed it’s a common trope for parents to either bring in…
It happens in the US too. Some people get married very quickly, or one set of parents live in a different state from their children and they do not meet until the wedding. I know people who do not really know their step or half siblings very well because they don't live in the same state. I think in many cultures, the children are not "consulted" before a remarriage, that's why there is so much drama in step/half family relationships.
I'm curious to know why Minoru broke up with his girlfriend. could it be because he realized he likes guys? 🤔
In the manga, the ex-girlfriend makes a brief appearance and talks to Minoru about his dropping out of university to help with Tane after their mom dies. Tane is there and he spills a drink, which upsets the girlfriend who complains that they can never talk with Tane around. Not long after (before the onigiri encounter), Tane has a tantrum and Yutaka gives Tane encouragement, and that's when Minoru starts to like Yutaka.
The ratings drop because we aren't bawling our eyes out or watching nekkid play. I think MDL is mostly people…
I misread your question and thought you were talking about KP not being an adult series. Sorry about that.
Yes, this show depicts adult office dynamics in an exaggerated way. Except for making the new person run personal errands and the overt bullying, I've seen all of the behaviors in this series at work. The boss/employee romance has not been shown as of today, and I've always worked in places where that would not be allowed. Sending a hateful comment about someone, accidentally to said person happened in one of my work places. The other person just ignored it, but my co-worker felt terrible about it. That's how adults who work in office settings can related.
Since you brought up KP flashing Apo's butt briefly, I am stating that the viewer doesn't need to see a bare ass to know the characters under the covers are naked. Yes, the sex scenes are tame, but when you're a kid, they are pretty wild. In some shows, the lips get pretty close to nipples, and heads go below the waist. If I were a teen in puberty, I would be more embarrassed but others swoon. Even on YT people put certain BL kisses on loop and post them.
I haven't heard him speak English yet. Maybe in an upcoming episode. I don't watch BTS while a series is airing, so I haven't seen anything else he has been in. Thanks for the info.

I thought minors were the majority. Porn is so easily accessed now compared to in my youth, so adults can see the real thing, rather than needing to see it in a series format. You make a great point about extended puberty mindset.

Since I'm not a kid, no I do not think KP portrays adult relationships. From the comments I see on MDL BL boards, viewers seem to want/like tongue kissing, bare chests and simulated sex. You don't need to see a bare azz to infer that the characters are naked.
why the rating keep dropping when this show is good, there is a plot and its office bl so its normal to see workplace…
The ratings drop because we aren't bawling our eyes out or watching nekkid play. I think MDL is mostly people still in puberty. They don't understand adult relationships and work life yet. Not trying to be condescending, just going by the comments posted. Get ready to call the waaaaaambulance.
I really like this show. I know this may sound lame, but the English they are speaking is understandable. I have watched some (mostly Japanese) series where the "fluent" speaker makes absolutely no sense. I give them credit because it is very difficult to speak a second language, and maintain the fluency for several scenes. I study another language and it's difficult to do. Maybe these used Up's English school ( I don't know if he owns it but he is on the promotional posters) to coach the actors.
I can't remember all that came out in 20-21 haha. My two favorites are Cherry Maho, and A Tale of a Thousand Stars. I can't stand angst, or melodrama, so fan favorites are not usually mine. The two winners so far in 2023 (for me) are I Will Knock You, and Moonlight Chicken. I'm currently watching Bokura no Shokutaku, and I am enjoying it so far. I have been watching gay films, and then BL as long as you, but I have different tastes than most BL viewers on this forum. I really like slice of life stories, and the lack of kissing doesn't bother me. I still love Big Eden even after all these years. Hopefully things will pick up now that covid restrictions are finally being lifted even by the strictest countries.
I'm going to say it. This is NO hate towards women but why is it that whenever female writers make these series…
I thought the Korean comment was stupid, but unfortunately, looking "Korean" is the hot thing right now, at least in Japan and Thailand. I recently visited both countries, and the "Korean" look is popular right now. I say "Korean" because in reality they are copying K-Pop artists and actors, not the average Korean man or woman.
Imagine how great it’d be if the Vice Versa episodes focused on the real Tun and Tess and everything that happened…
I think it would need to be more than 2 episodes. Tess is such an idiot that they would need a whole series! Especially if his parents kick him out after experiencing a great son like Talay.
Iijima is growing on me as Minoru. He is still a little pretty for me, but he has good chemistry with Inukai and Maeyama. This adaptation is very well done so far. Japan BL is hit or miss for me due to some actors being obviously uncomfortable being intimate (not just sexually) with another man, and the 2 Ken doll kisses, but Japan does slice of life dramas best in my opinion.
After watching the pilot, I'm on the fence. I don't like this type of story, especially with two different love interests. I dropped 609 Bedtime Story after two episodes, but I enjoyed Triage. I find it hard to get emotionally attached to the torn between two lovers trope. I'll give this series a couple of episodes before i decide.
No, but they should have left the buzz cut on Frank so that I wouldn't get so distracted by the wig. Lee Long is such a good actor that I want to slap him as much as Night and Gear to.
I held off watching this because I was afraid they would mess it up compared to the manga. Although the casting of Minoru is still a little different from the what I imagined (too "pretty" compared to the manga), the acting has won me over.

Jarb's late 1970's/1980's feathered hair looks great in 2023.
