I find that on MDL it is mostly with LGBTQ+ series where if you dare to say something negative about a show, you are considered a hater. I have given on other series/movies that are not LGBTQ+ negative feedback and no one comes in and calls me a hater. They either bypass my post, give a like or say something like "Agree to disagree." They do not question my understanding of words like masterpiece or phenomenal (both of which are overused by a lot of BL fans). I am a person who gives my honest opinion on a show and I rate the show based on my opinion alone. I am not here to defend my opinions or argue with anyone. With all that said, The Next Prince is bad on so many levels from direction, lighting, acting, lead couple, second couple and 3rd couple, NN's hair color, intimate scenes that were not sexy and had no chemistry to finally the script that's ridiculous in its buildup regarding a tournament that was to determine who the next king would be, but we never actually see 3 honest tournaments, it all boiled down to one fencing match because of cheating/scheming! I know why Ava dropped out of the tournament because she wanted nothing more to do with this series. A big budget does not mean a good show. This show in my opinion ranks right there with (to name a couple) Sunset X Vibes and Jack and Joker all of them promised a lot and delivered big piles of boring, steamy poo. The only positive thing I can say about this show is that the comment section here is hilarious and that is what kept me watching.

Seriously, am I watching the same show as the rest of you in the comments because if I have to read the novel (As so many in the comments have) to understand the series, then the director is doing a lousy job. This show is repetitive, tedious and yes, we know Shen hates Omega's and their smell, let's move on! 6 episodes in and honestly nothing happens except a main character goes into rut in just about every episode and we do not actually see what happens during a rut other than lots of sweating, looking feverish and looking like they were drugged with some aphrodisiac. Honestly the most action is when a main character changed all the light bulbs in a building and on a street his employee lived on. The acting is so stiff that they could use cardboard cutouts and voice overs and no one would be the wiser, oh wait, they already use voice over in Chinese series and that could be the issue here, they are delivering their lines as if reading a Chinese menu without any nuance, passion or conviction, it is badly dubbed. In my opinion, A lot of good looking men cannot save this show, it is not good and super boring.

I can appreciate a new type of story line in a BL. What I do not appreciate is a waste of a lot of money for a script that should of have been burned and never made into a series. I will say this again (As I have in other posts) this couple has absolutely zero chemistry and needs to break up. Zee did have burning chemistry with Saint in Why R U and he actually had an acting range that went beyond A to A-. From Cutie Pie to this pile of stinking crap, these two have played the same boring characters, where one whines and the other gives brooding looks. Their intimate scenes look so choreographed they are boring and what is up with that lighting, I swear any more high density lighting and they might as well use AI to create the actors, because they do not even look human anymore and please NN never and I mean never use that hair color again, it was ghastly!! At least Jimmy and Ohm can act, but their story line was super toxic and they needed to stay apart, once an abuser is always an abuser. JJ and Net you were robbed. I actually think this show would of been better had JJ and Net played the leads and NN and Zee played the Calvin and Jay parts. I also think this show could have replaced Zee with blowup doll of himself and dubbed his voice, his acting was that one dimensional and boring. Even the music became repetitious and boring and over top as if trying to make this show more than it was and it was a big fat flop!

@aska, I totally agree with you on the rating, but MDL ratings have always been notoriously wrong, either too low or too high. This one is definitely too high!

Seriously, it makes me mad, if a show is only 25 minutes long with at least 3 minutes taken off for opening and ending credits, there should be a rule they have to post 2 episodes at a time unless the one episode is at least 40 minutes long. Waiting a week for a show that is only at best 22 minutes is unacceptable. They could have made 6 episodes at 50 minutes. I am unsure what the strategy is behind making 12 episodes at 22 minutes each and only airing one a week. I will wait until they all air and then binge it.

A lot of money was wasted in the creation of this series. The leads honestly have no chemistry and they are quite boring. The second couple has chemistry, but a very off putting dynamic. I keep forgetting there is a third couple because they have no story and scant few scenes together and do not even get me started on Ava, what a let down. I was actually rooting for her to win! This whole series is a bore and I said this before and I will say it again, Zee is soooooo stiff, they could of replaced him with a cardboard cutout and dubbed his voice and no one would of been the wiser.

Episode 5 was a snooze fest. So far in 5 episodes we have seen 3 ruts, Gao Tu struggling to use inhibitors countless times, Shen again commenting on Omega scents, (we get it you hate the smell), then out of nowhere some stupid whipping scene that we can only hear and even with all that, pretty much nothing happens again. With 16 episodes in total, this is going to be dragged out forever. I got more insight with the gossiping girls than with any of the main characters. Overall I am not impressed so far.

Was this series mind blowing, no, but I was entertained. It would have been nice to see other couples have more screen time and what is with the title of the show, they should rename it Charlie, because it really was all about him and not Babe. This series for both one and two would have been so much better had they cast someone else for Charlie because Pooh is not a good enough actor to carry the part. Maybe they can do a part 3 and give us stories on the other couples and how they finally got together and I am always open to more Alan and Jeff, they are my favorite couple of the series.

Krist and Singto gave us a BL that was entertaining from start to finish without a script needing to be ground breaking, dark or full of angst. These two actors have always had chemistry, but in this BL you could really feel their friendship and ease with each other. I LOVED this show because it did not need any gimmicks. It was fun from start to finish and the wedding was perfection, so much fun!!! I hope they do not make us wait years for their next project together. I am so glad to see them together again and they really looked like they had a great time being in this series.

This has become a snooze fest. At this point I do not care who wins the competition, the dust story line took way too much time and there are no couples at this point I am invested in. hahaha I got killed when I trashed Bank's outfits on that show. Sunset X Vibes will go down as one of the worst. Yet, I have to admit I have not laughed that hard at a BL in a long time, that dancing sequence had me on the floor, just thinking about it and I am laughing again!!

I believe Armin in the very first episode was in his late 40's and now he is back to being early 20's and doing it all over again. That was my take on his age in the beginning. I also think they did a good job on Pond making his looking older in the first episode.

I do feel badly for Jeff. Out of all the characters on this show, Jeff is my favorite, he is consistent and loyal to a fault. Since day one I have not been a fan of Charlie and if he never regains his memory of Pit Babe, that works for me. The Papa/Mama nicknames are gaggable to the nth degree and the actor who plays Charlie mumbles constantly. I say, give Willy a chance Pit Babe.

I still love Alan and at least he is making the show more interesting. I find it hard to believe that they are going to wrap all this up in the next 2 episodes. I've a feeling we are in for a cliffhanger leading to a 3rd and final season.

I have been hated too many times to count on MDL and then they send me a friend request. I'm like, what's happening here. I do not friend anyone. My only complaint of this show is Kui and Jam, they are super obnoxious and I swear if I was Kui, I'd knock Jam on her ass the minute she hit me the first time. It is not funny watching someone hit someone else all the time. I fast forward them now.
