I came here because I finished the first episode, saw previews of the 2nd episode and gutted finding out that…
You have taken a wise decision. Don't watch it because it will be painful for you. I wish many others who preferred HJP as ML had done like you instead of watching and complaining for weeks.

You should definitely watch the first episode. The rests.. are not that important
Give it a try. You should watch 2 or 3 episodes and see if it is your cup of tea. And also don't get second male syndrome because second male lead is too good in ep1. Or else you won't like it.

I have seen the reviews and most of the ones sinking the drama have only one argument : that HJP was the best. And these reviews are most popular also. So yes the rating is being sunk mostly by people disappointed by HJP not getting the girl.

Dalmi must have been blind for not choosing Jipyeong because he was the better option.
Ji Pyeong is the best option for a gold digger. Dal Mi is not one.

Exactly. The child's behavior because of this drama is sad. People can hate the script but the directing was fantastic,…
The plot devices are made by the writer so how can you say the writer ignored them?

I would have like for the ending to have a start love line with han ji pyung and seo in jae.
I shipped them together too at some point of the begining but looking at their "no nothing " interactions, I knew it was dead.

Truth is ep 1 was misleading. HJP as a teen looked so lovely as a poor orphan struggling in the streets, drenched in the rain with his puppy eyes looking at you. He is taken home by a Grandma with a good heart and they decide to help a poor girl by sending letters to comfort her... So adorable....This is better than any fairy tale. Even Hans-Christian Andersen and the Grimm Brothers or Charles Perrault, they did not come up with such an endearing set up.

Many viewers seeing this called HJP the adorable kid, the orphan boy who escaped dire straits to become great. He is the hero of the Drama. He has got to be. He was her penfriend, he will find her and they will be happy together ever after. Destiny chosed him for her...

But no....

Destiny chosed the other kid. Nam Do San.

HJP is just the butt of the joke.

This is why... they are sinking the rating.

to finish our discussion:Ji Pyeong never poured his heart and his feelings and sincerity in these fake letters…
He took comfort from the letters of a 12 years old girl writing to a 12 years old boy because he had no friends. That means he stole her good intentions and good words for himself a 19yo man.

He wrote words to her . Some were fake some were sincere and true. But he was portraying a 12 yo kid who cared about her and comforted her when he was never a man with enough empathy to comfort anybody.

HJP knows all this. This is why he acknowledged not to be Do San from the Letters. He just told her the truth without uselessly stirring the past.

Nice talking to you to. Have fun watching new dramas and take care.

The letters were written only for 1 year, and grandma would help with those letters. Later, Dal Mi kept on writing…
Grandma did not have the right handwriting. She could not respond. The letters ended after HJP left for Seoul.

The story is good also if you survived ep1 without thinking HJP is the winner of the race.

just bc I'm curious, which other kdrama MLs do you all really dislike or hate? you dont need a valid reason, I…
to finish our discussion:

Ji Pyeong never poured his heart and his feelings and sincerity in these fake letters that he called stupid and he denied being responsible of them and their consequences on Dal Mi. He said to her he wrote them just to pose himself as a fated lover for her because he "was" her penfriend 15 yeas ago. Of course it did not work. She did not care about it because she was in love with another guy already.

You opinion is ep 15 proves that the letters were real. It is not really the question. The question is about how he invested himself in them. I said ep15 is endgame. But end of drama is ep 16. Now Ep 16 told us. The fake letters were not his heart, his feelings and his sincerity. They did not reprensent anything good enough. This is why he did not look for her for 15 years to help her, support her, comfort her. This is what the Do San in the letters is and would have done for her. Do San who read the letters and had a glimpse at her, it was enough for him to care about her and look for her just to help her the same day.

HJP said it. He is not Do San from the Letters. These letters were not him.

(sorry to interrupt your discussion thread)

Yeah, just finished and a little bit gonna cry, because it was really nice journey)))
This is not what I meant. He confessed to her and she rejected his feelings. She could not reject him again, in a harsh way because he was a friend, almost like family. She thought he would understand by himself. She never give him any sign that she would be interested. He is a decision maker. During these 3 years, he should have made up his mind. Even his underling knows better than him when he said "These days giving up right away is considered good manners". Dal Mi showed him enough distance for him to understand and give up.

What I meant is that Ji Pyeong was set up as a self made man cold and rude who will become warmer and open himself to the others. He did not change from that during 14 episodes. So basically he was always the same annoying nagging guy when all the other characters were struggling and progressing. He had development in the last ep only.

This treatment of the character was prejudiciable to the quality of the drama because HJP was a "bad" character for too long. His trajectory is just super cliché. I would not mind he was "bad" to the other leads but he should have had his own arc of narration to make his character more deep, consistent and credible.

Clear that they never intended to give Ji Pyeong the slightest chance with Dal Mi. Total third wheel.

alternative ending: HJP gay, happy and married with YJG. I’m gonna pretend it ended up like this.
They would definitely make a BL sequel with these two if it Lakornland. This being said, I enjoyed the cameo and the scene. It was one rare scene where HJP act as team leader in a project not related to other leads. They should have done more of that.

The drama is good but it would have been better if they did not butcher that character Han Ji Pyeong.
They did not give him his own story, challenges, office life, struggles as Team leader of SH Venture Capital. He had no depth and no development. He was just a third wheel, a roadblock, a nagging bully until ep 15. He had all his development in episode16. I guess it is a choice but I think it would have been better if they did not make his trajectory ..." cliché" like that.

"above"?? you can't be serious, come on!
For me and for the ones I have watched:

- Not better than : IOTNBO, FOE, 18 Again, 365 RTY

- Draw with : Holo Love, XX, WTWIFine

- Better than: CLOY, BS, Dinner Mate, Do DO Sol, DYLBrahms, Forest, TKEM, Search, More than Friends, TOT9T, WIWMB, Zombie Detective

It is a good drama. If you have not watched it with your eyes only on the second male lead.

Yes it has been a long but enjoyable journey from their dire situation to their success. I watched the drama trying to put myself in the shoes of each of the appx 10 leads characters and I loved their aspirations, dreams, struggles and their achievements which led them to become better. Second male lead's treatment could have been better but overall, I liked the drama.
