Excellent review. I have yet to leave a review for a drama, but was seriously tempted to for this one. The amount of backlash it has received is dumbfounding. It blows my mind how many people can’t objectively view a drama and can only gripe and moan about how the characters don’t behave like ‘they’ think they should. What a difference it makes being able to take into consideration the era the drama is based in and it’s cultural and political climate, seeing a character as someone with DEPTH that has experienced the growing pains of life and not just some simple lovestruck fool. The real world is FULL of broken people who have LIVED life and that comes with ups, downs, trials, perseverance, and sometimes a person’s life just has a tragic trajectory. None of us get to choose what gets thrown at us—only how we choose to respond. If they are looking for a fairy tale, they need to stick to Disney movies. I couldn’t help but but consider those who have survived trafficking and the horrific experiences they have survived, and wonder just how far a person could go if given the opportunity for revenge and to save another from the same fate. Susu was clearly a woman on a mission who just happened to encounter love along the way and understandably struggled with how to rectify the two. As one who has lived long enough to see the second half of their lifetime, I’ve come to see the beauty in lives that have scars, both physical and emotional. The human spirit is most beautiful when seen for its strength, perseverance, resilience, humility, sacrifice and forgiveness—these aren’t developed without scars and our scars are just beautiful reminders of just how strong we are and how much we have survived and overcome.

@Jwells, you are the bomb for those extra drama links!! I just watched this drama and had to pick my jaw up off the floor after watching him kiss…he wanted to consume her! Now I’m off to watch these two!
