I saw it as symbolism for (breasts) using the word oppai (おっぱい) feels more nurturing, motherly, comfy and when used by children as a word for a mother’s breasts or breastfeeding although you have your pervs/people using it as slang like chichi and ochichi. They used oppai words quite a bit and we had different moms in the movie from a cool mom that prioritizes her child and will f*ck you up to a woman that felt she was a mom because she's a woman and gave birth without really prioritizing the child and abandons her whenever she's tired of playing mom (as if she really did much). There was some trauma that Tomo's mom didn't seem to deal with and we just get some vague lines about why she's like she is but never gets above the surface, I wish we dug a bit deeper but then the movie would turn into a short series, which would have been better since this drama has a lot to unpack.
