As a fellow atheist who has had bad experiences with religion as well, I agree. The show is surely about hope and personal faith which is a very subjective thing that depends on person to person. But they showed the father to be supportive, zero consequences of choosing a homosexual relationship over religion which is unrealistic. Now I don't know what exactly was the director's experience it might have been easy for him but when you make a show like this it's necessary to keep a touch of realism. I wanted a happy ending since the beginning but not the kind of fairytale they showed with everyone around them being that chill about homosexuality. That made me think they're whitewashing a man-made misogynistic and homophobic religion a but too much. That's why I mentioned that this show would be nice to have hope but as you said real life was still difficult because of the same religion right? So it would've still managed to hurt. But yeah as for a relationship with God it could've been somewhat soothing to watch a positive pov

But it's a show afterall. It wouldn't have changed the fact that Christianity is against queer people. Reality would've still been a problem. Religion is nothing to be glorified. One can have a personally healthy relationship with God but religion is not God neither is it something we, as queer people should be brainwashed into accepting just because a show says it's okay. It's not. In reality, most churches are against queer relationships. Let's just always be aware of that while wishing religion becomes more flexible, not us. This is the director's personal story. It had a happy ending which is a very nice thing. But many people don't.

In the earlier episodes we were wondering why was Niran even bothering to deal with Pete after they defeat the yao. We never got an explanation. That's why they showed it in the post credits that Niran had realised from first day that Pete isn't just an ordinary guy because his jade shone for Pete, we thought it did because Niran asks Pete to lose the bad energy but it was because it was responding to Pete specifically, which it doesn't do with anyone other than Niran's family. If it is reacting to someone that means they have a connection with Niran. So it was an indication that Pete was always someone special and connected to Niran. They crossed paths because they were meant to that's why Niran treats him with a lot of patience and tags him along everywhere. No he did not see the future. They were just trying to show why Niran was so soft with Pete all this time. He just knew all along that Pete is someone special that his fate chose and then they also bind their souls together so their fates tie together forever. They hinted a lot at fate/destiny through the ost as well.

There's literally so much more that they can do with this theme and the characters, one season is really not enough.

I wanted more struggles too. Honestly by the time it reached it's finale I realised it was never about "religion vs the gays" it was more of Tanrak's personal journey where he chooses between ordination and his love for Barth. I think most of us expected a different plot where he struggles with a religion that's homophobic and the church rules but it turned out to be a story about whether he wants to be a priest or just live his happy gay life. So that's why it turned placid imo. The plot took a different turn hence the lack of grief that actually hurts or tension that makes you lose sleep. You put it in better words than I could about how P'Oaf handles the climaxes of his shows. It somehow fails to hit the fan right? But yeah there were great cinematic moments.

And your name engraved herein was also based on the director's personal experience. Just like TTH is roughly based on Oaf's. So there's no way both of them will have exactly same experiences. When people see religion as the backdrop of a queer show their first instinct is to expect intense struggle because of external factors. But Tanrak's journey was more about his internal battle about whether he should choose a life dedicated to god or be selfish and choose the one he loves. I think the last episode could've been more detailed. They quickly came back to the present and got it over with. But I knew halfway through the show that it's not about religion vs the gays, it's more about finding a middle path where you can be happy and still have faith with you. Many people choose that. Not every queer person is non-religious or an athiest. I'm bi and an athiest, the religion I belong to is homophobic and misogynistic so I rejected it. But I think as long as faith doesn't interfere with your personal choices or not shoved down your throats and give you trauma, it's fine for people to be religious and be queer asf. When religions try too hard to control every aspect of one's life they want to tell you who to fuck and when to reproduce that is when it gets disgusting. The world needs more real stories like BarthTanrak. Really. Where you can keep god in your heart and still choose a life you want. It's high time religion also becomes less nosy and focuses on love instead of hate.

I think episode 2 and 3 were the best part of the show and the next episodes couldn't keep up with the bar that was set by them. But I still enjoyed the show. I just kinda got a little bored by the end because the struggle between faith and love wasn't that intense and the last part was very rushed. No confrontation at all just quick resolution which kinda felt anticlimactic. Good thing that the ending was exactly what I expected it to be. I hope gmmtv makes more serious shows like this. It's a good change from all the lighthearted romcoms. GemFot's best work till date!

Not every criticism is hate. I see people throwing this word around a bit too loosely. It's okay to disagree or to not have the same taste. I won't say it went from 10 to 7 but I still don't think they were hating.

Glad to have gotten so many KanitPailin moments in this episode ! And no matter what anyone says TotoKanit are super cute together. The portrayal is unserious but still realistic. This is how you would actually see real humans behave. I really loved how Kanit protected Toto from his judgemental friends and no matter how reluctant he was in the beginning, he acknowledged Toto's efforts and was sweet to him as the episode progressed. He actually liked Toto way before than he would like to admit. Yes he was being mean to Toto in the start of the episode but that's because he was still torn and in denial. He did not want to start something so fast after going through a fresh heartbreak. But he gave in in just the span 2 days lmao. As he should!

I watched it for the relationship 100% I won't pretend otherwise as well. The fact that it is a fantasy and thriller has been a great bonus! The storyline was refreshing and the execution was really good. They all did their best in the limited time slot they had and that's visible. I never expected gmmtv to give us that many moments in a series that does not claim to be a romance. They have made bromances before but none of them hit like HSF and Wu do. It's the SkyNani magic, no doubt in that. Idk if this is possible or not since they aren't an official cp, but if they can they should continue to work together in different genres of dramas just like this and leave it to us to find the romantic crumbs in that (it really helps that they do give away very cute moments pretty easily lol).

As I've said before, they have ruined us a little too much with that kind of electric chemistry that they share. I'd like to stay high on that forever. I'm already lavitating, keep feeding me more until I ascend!!

NiranPete's bond is so wholesome and sweet. The cutest, prettiest soulmate duo ever!! The acting was perfect and the chemistry was awesome!!

I'm gonna miss NiranPete like hell, just like I miss SaintShin and often randomly rewatch hsf. I'll also miss coming over here and wishing everyone happy tWUesday, it's been a very sweet ride.
