Well at first I found XJS extremely ruthless and vile but understandable. And very patient and calculating, willing to play a long game. But agree at the end he just became delulu and irrational. By having him stick around when he should have returned to Pingling, I guess they were trying to make him regret what he did to Yixiao and realise he didn't actually want the throne more than he wanted her after all. I found that unnecessary. I'd have rather he went down doing what he did with no regrets.

It really is not XJS's fault - he gave her an out many times. But she is desperate to go home at this point and is doing what needs to be done, regardless of right and wrong to get what she wants. Its typical of her and true to character. IMHO, she is not into Jingyan at all.

Honestly of all the villains, I find his motives the most well written. He did what he did bc his brother and stepmother want to kill him the moment Jinxiu's war with Susha is over. Its rational and understandable and when he colludes with MY, he is not betraying his country, he is undermining Susha. The only truly bad thing he ever did was try to kill FYX. I don't think FXY's grudge against him is at all justified - he never misled her or lied to her. She only has herself to blame for her current situation.
