In the novel, shifu also is the one who shoots off her head tie. I quite like how they have made some huge changes but try to keep as many things the same as possible.

Well they still may have kept some of it bc the part about her bro being held hostage is the same.

Its not that big of a love triangle bc Ji Chang is not love driven.

They are both dramas I enjoyed but JOF is by the same director as Pearl Eclipse.

If Tilan seems one dimensional it is because in the novel her character doesn't have a huge role in Haishi/Jianming and the emperor's story. It is actually mostly a very toxic triangle between those three but the drama wrote it into a square. She is much more interesting in the novel's prequel where she has a very important role in Ji Chang and General Tang's back story story and she is kind of clairvoyant (and blind). They both love her but Ji Chang loves power more and she only loves General Tang.

Sadly the pastry loving emperor has been poisoned so we have to expect them to be interrupted.

Nope that drama is an atrocity. Luoyang is starting on Wednesday watch that. You can also try Journey of Flower if you like the ice block shifu.

Princess Agents but it’s a cliffhanger ending and S2 will never get made bc it plagiarized this book. The chemistry between the lead couple is very good, IMHO much better than this. But the storytelling is not good.

Haishi

I am saying the same thing MDl users are more willing to rate based on purely subjective factors like they just love the CP of the idols bc that is what they find entertaining. To your example precisely I didn’t find Journey to the West entertaining at all although you do but I can objectively see why it’s a good production that should be highly rated I would personally not score it anywhere close to its Douban rating.

In the book. Not there yet in the drama.

Not sure they even complete the wedding. Doesn’t the emperor and hence shifu gets poisoned that same night? Darned emperor and his fondness for pastries is going to result in the mother of all
interruptions. No wonder Haishi scratches his face and bites him!

I am glad Zhe Liu survives. In the novel she dies. Zhuoying has great accomplishments and names his capital after osmanthus and pomegranates.

Geez if Haishi doesn’t stop kicking his butt he may decide survival is not preferable! 😂

The biggest shocker is how henpecked he is gonna be if he actually survives. I never imagined that in a million years!!!

At this point the drama is starting to deviate from the novel.

Yes of course he knew Haishi would shoot. The bet is on what she will aim at.
