Yeah the characterisations just fell off a shallow cliff.

That nose to nose scene made me realise CZY has a very, very, very flat face. Almost no side profile.😅😂

Yeah I agree I am disappointed with his motive. But I think his collaborators should be more worried he doesn't finish them off rather than the other way around. I am quite sure he is not really on the same side as the Zhuangs, he is just playing them against each other. As mentioned by PM Zhuang and his father, FSG's father is the founding emperor and the Zhuangs and Murongs put him there. So I think MY feels he and his family are equally entitled to rule.

that MY's motive is so meh and petty and his end game still unclear. But he's still a good villain, playing all sides against one another with everyone underestimating him.

Which brings me back to XJS. I have a feeling maybe he is still the ultimate mastermind after all.

I doubt it. MY is now the head of the interior guard, which is basically the emperor's personal guard. From the moment the emperor gave him that job, his people have essentially surrounded the emperor. He doesn't need Dr Ling's or anyone else's help. That is why FYX believed him instead of trying to call his bluff.

Well it could be that she is still alive and hates the emperor for not believing her and has been the one poisoning him with Dr Ling's help but that would be a dreadful and dark story.

Wow - I didn't even start watching c-dramas till I think 2019 and the only one I ever watched on YT for free was TMOPB. 😅

Either that or she time travelled to the future and forgot him so he came to bring her home. Either way I am just here for the food.😜

I will check it out but am not super interested in watching Rebirth either. Its is a sequel but it was so long ago and it wasn't such a great story that I just don't really care anymore.

Yeah the entire focus deviated to Li Qin and Dou Xiao's characters. I skimmed the novel bc I wanted to know how it ends and it is clear the production went in a totally different direction. Idk what exactly happened with ZLY but she was NOT happy about it she ditched the director when she reunited with the ML to make Shen Li, which she financed herself.

I suspect they both either reincarnated or time travelled back into the present bc LYR/Lin Yan was there in the present as well.

Her character in PA was really badly written - as bad as the princess here. And apparently the director had issues with ZLY so he shifted all the screen time to the second couple in the 2H of that drama.

Li Qin is usually dubbed by a VA in costume dramas. But her VA's voice very closely matches hers. She voices herself in War of Faith.
