The first wife was slowly poisoned. I wouldn't be shocked if his mother and Qiao did it together.
Not sure about that - she described her as as difficult to manage. It is quite obvious Qiao had something to do with it but she needs someone in the household with everyday access to help her. The only person I can think of must be the MIL.

Just watched ep 15-16, wow! So much is packed in ep 15. Yeah Daddi Tang makes his appearance in ep 15. I wonder…

Unpopular opinion: Qiao concubine is so pretty and even though she's playing the low move villain in this show,…
She is a good actress and so is Seven. They are both playing their roles well.

If you know that that is true, it is a HUGE spoiler, the kind you should hide.

Can someone explain to me who is exactly Wen Kexing? I'm confuse with his character >
He is a mystery for now but I don't think he is just a good guy that is simply attracted to Zishou - he seems to have an agenda because he obviously wanted to stay at Sanbai manor.

I'm not too sure about it, but I figured that it might also be from their first encounter in ep 1-2 when Gu Xiang…

LOL, I will watch more tonight and see if I understand your question better. It is clear though that he is a high profile guy at Four Seasons Manor so maybe its not that hard to guess.

I am only at episode 4 but I think it is quite obvious he has already figured out based on his martial arts that he was someone senior from Four Seasons Manor. But I think he has no clue about his link with Windows of Heaven (even the governor he assassinated in episode 1 knew him but was shocked he was part of Windows of Heaven.

Yes you are right - he was last member of Four Seasons Manor which must have been a jianghu sect. He also founded the Window of Heaven which is a secret assassin guild that reports to Prince Jin and essentially does all his dirty work. He inducted all his fraternal brothers from Four Seasons Manor into the Window of Heaven and that is the organization that no one can withdraw from without undergoing the seven nails treatment. Because he is technically still bound to secrecy and owes his life to Prince Jin, he is very secretive about his past. I suspect it is not widely known Four Seasons Manors association with Window of Heaven and/or that Window of Heaven belongs to Prince Jin. Window of Heaven is the one that still recruits and trains assassins and reports to another dude now.

I really want to count how many times ZZS rolled his eyes in the first 5 episodes only LOL.
Love the eyerolls... I promise I was doing them in unison which is what makes it hilarious... bc the other dude was basically borderline oily but the eye roll saves the day. LOL!

They wasted so much time on that terrible Wang Qian/Helan arc and skipped over all the potentially best parts…

Although I wouldn't go so far as to call them Gary Stu and Mary Sue, I just hate that they dumbed down both Xiao Qi and Wang Xuan to be such waffling goody two shoes. If they were ambitious and ruthless this would have been so much better. And I can't get over him not avenging the Ningshou army because I still see in Xiao Qi a lot Zhou Yu Wei's s character in Changan who was champion of the common soldier.

He is a bit wasted here because the ML is a man of such few words.

better skip it for now as of now female lead is outwitted by dumb concubines
Shiyi has definitely lost a few skirmishes but it seems to me she is decisively winning the war. And like Shiyi, I am more focused on figuring out who the mystery killer(s) are and the overall mastermind and how they all tie together. Qiao is just a red herring and a distraction while they slowly unveil the backstory. I must admit I don't love how they are doing it at such a really slow pace.

Instead of the typical romance you see in Chinese historical dramas, this one is more realistic when it comes…
His mother takes being dense to a whole new level. It doesn't compute that the more wives he has, the more he sleeps away from home. Any quasi intelligent person will conclude that he either doesn't like women or he doesn't like any of the wives his mother chooses for him. At least his first wife seems to be more clued in to his taste in women...
