It was high budget. Both Yang Yang's salary and the CGI (which was a bit dated) cost a lot.
Possibly but lower is still not low for him.

Does anybody know if this is indeed high budget drama (some site said it cost 120MM US$), therefore, some review…

I think it might. Youku made money on it. Not a ton but probably enough.

I'm so glad you also found Yang Yang to be excellent in this drama (not just me finding him super good-looking).…
For sure an 8.0 is also very fair. It has its flaws editing etc. that would make that totally justified.

" it’s not his fault when the director wants to point the camera at him to make him look good."
I am not sure that its even possible to point the camera at him and not make him look good!!!
Excellent review, agree with all your points - I am broke out of coins till next month so have a fake flower 🌸🌸🌸

The guy went did his high school at an American boarding school and is quite Westernized.
Of course - I am only pointing out he is likely more open minded due to his upbringing.

I didn't get that far. Too much stress every time a zombie popped out. I watch dramas to relax, not get traumatized.

He's alright, I have seen him in a few support roles here and there. That wasn't a well written script or character so its not all on him.

Yeah the FL in Ever Night was mis-cast. They looked disturbing together. I thought he was ok, esp for a debut role. And yeah poor Nashi, I hope she comes out of it ok. She should probably just lie low.

I watched a few episodes of I am Nobody. I liked her there too but I hate zombies I had to drop it.

We can agree to disagree. I find Chen Feiyu to be a just an ok actor. He's not bad but for me, he's not had any memorable roles or shown much diversity in his roles.

Of course he isn't and I don't have a huge issue with it in general other than to point out he has never been in supporting roles. His debut was as the lead in Ever Night in 2018, not L&P. At this point, he has led more than enough dramas to be considered quite seasoned even though his acting may not be that much better than Chu Zhao's. By comparison on your examples, ZRY started out in many support roles and Anabella Yao is probably never going make it out of support roles. But poor Nashi who is a wonderful actress has been panned to the point of being almost banned bc she had some small connections.
