Sadly this is a common feature of most of 2024 dramas. Starts strong and then goes downhill. 😅🤨

As I said before Grandma is the lady in the picture and Hongqi and Hongshen cross dressing are the kids. Muzhi was Kunwu and now it is Hongshen. 😂😂😂

Maybe not intelligence but he had good survival instincts. Once he figured out the Cuis were going down he quickly distanced himself from them and switched sides to Prince Ying. He fell into this latest trap way too easily knowing ZRJ protects SMZ. It is out of character reckless and stupid.

NIF3 is very secretive so not many details but latest news is Wu Lei is not in it

I don't find either lead that clever because I don't find villains that smart - they are too easily fooled and defeated.

SMZ named her charity Duckweed Society because duckweed is a tiny acquatic flowering plant that floats on the water that has no roots. It is not considered a lucky flower in Chinese culture because it is rootless and thus symbolises lack of family or unity. It is fitting to represent orphans or women who have to fend for themselves.

I usually look for directors I like. I am looking forward to Cao Dun's Win or Die (led by Jing Boran) and The Litchi Road (led by Lei Jiayin), and director Yang Yang's Immortal Ascension (led by actor Yang Yang) and Yang Fan's Riverside Code at Qingming Festival (led by Zhang Songwen). And of course the widely rumoured Nirvana in Fire 3.

I will also watch See Her Again which is a HK drama starting next week.

Well he was in charge of tax collection at the time. He only helped the Cuis embezzle part of the tribute pearls. I guess in his new role, his opportunity to make money is larger, he couldn't help himself.

Thanks for your comments.This is also one my all time favorite dramas, right up there with NIF, even though the writing doesn't hold up after ep 50. It is very well written indeed and of course it had a huge budget bc Netflix was an investor. So they got real movie actors like Chen Kun and Ni Ni to act in it and it was even live recorded and not dubbed over. As for the ending, I just remind myself of the golden rule - no one dies falling off a cliff in a Chinese drama. No one.

2024 has been super disappointing for me. The only drama I really loved was Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty 2. I think Female General and Shadow Love will not come until 2025. Pearl Girl is not a flop but its not a hit either. I just find it boring. I guess the good news is 2025 can't be worse considering how bad 2024 has been.

He got exposed in Guanzhou for his past misdeeds with the Cuis. If the Cuis didn't get exposed, he would not have been implicated. He threw Prince Tan under the bus in exchange for Prince Ying covering up his past misdeeds. But in Yanzhou instead of being even more careful, he got even more stupid.

Unfortunately as with every drama, the protagonists are only as smart as the antagonists.

Oh c'mon! Xu Nanying got super dumbed down to fall for that trap so easily! Why would he agree to go after SMZ knowing ZJR righteousness and his fondness for SMZ? You would think he steers clear of anything to do with her.
