Lol - they are just dramas people shouldn't let their feelings get hurt that easily! I don't think this has been a good year for period costume dramas at all. Many of them start well and then sag in the second half as a result of bad writing. The modern dramas have been a lot better this year. You should check out Escape from the Trilateral Slopes. Its set in Southeast Asia and a lot of Cantonese gets spoken.
Dont pay attention, I think that, the storyline is different in the drama.
I am less interested in the romance so I am less interested in whether she falls for the SML. But since it is a triangle, I think both MLs should have a fair chance of winning the girl. They both have so far not behaved well. But I can see that when they talk about their aspirations and values, hers are more aligned with the ML - they both care about the people and want peace. The SML only cares about his ambition and the Pei clan name. I think that will eventually drive a rift between them.

I think PY’s mother is definitely raising an army to try to enthrone her son but this is probably only after her husband died and the emperor became suspicious of them. I think Jiang Ci is most likely Prince Qi’s daughter which makes her PY’s niece so they can’t get together. The Yan sisters are from Wei not Yueluo and Prince Qi is from Liang so if Jiang Qi is related to any of them she is definitely not from Yueluo. It was just a beautiful place with a flower she read about to make a great bitter porridge.

Very well put. I am also watching more for the plot and I think both MLs are complicated characters whose main agenda is NOT love. They are playing for high stakes and anyone who gets in their way is a pawn or expendable or dead. Its that simple. I am not watching this as a romance and so far I don't see much of that its all been about the politics and the intrigue. Which is super interesting. So far I think any potential romance is just a side story and that is fine by me. There are already too many many super boring romantic dramas about super righteous MLs who roll over and play dead for the FL even when they are trolls idk why we need another one of those.

Pei Yan is overbearing and suffocating. Every time he starts with his preaching I roll my eyes and with Herculean effort stop myself from picking my nose.
