Does Huai A not know martial arts? Considering he’s a scholar. He really just stood there like 🧍‍♀️while…
Yes, he is not an overall fighter. I heard that out of all CY's characters, Xie Huai An is the only character who cannot fight/ doesn't know martial arts. But since the drama has not finished airing, there's nothing 100% confirmed yet.

Is it a hot take that I feel like General Yan Fengshan might not necessarily be an evil guy? We haven't seen him appear yet but I feel like he may be a grey character. The Huben Army has so many talents and shadow guards. Yan Fengshan must be extraordinary for them to fear him/ be loyal to him. He done a lot of bad things though but I wonder what may be his true goal. This show has so many mysteries. I finished the current 6 episodes but I can't stop thinking about the plot and characters.

i love ep 5 and 6 they showed huai an vulnerability so far soo good!
I really like the part after he killed Liu Ziyan. I don't know how to describe Xie Huai An's expression after he killed Liu Ziyan but it wasn't happiness after killing one's enemy. I'm still wondering what it means.

The deposed Emperor has a rage in him. Give him an ax and he will chop wood or kill. His chopping wood helps him…
Oh yes I haven't forgiven him for Zhang Mo's death either but I understand his perspective. Being a puppet emperor who has been too used to living a life of luxury probably contributed to his resentment and lack of regard for others' lives. Of course, understanding his perspective doesn't mean I agree with what he did! He definitely has a lot more room for growth and redemption (if any)!

Title The Vendetta of An Spoiler
The deposed Emperor is quite funny now. Actually I really like the complexity of his character. I don't necessarily like him yet but he's neither too dumb or smart. I feel like he's in between. Some of the stuff he says are quite smart but some of his actions are quite dumb. He knows how to yield to the strong in order to survive but he's also impulsive and acts on his feelings (e.g., when he killed Zhang Mo). His conversation with Xie Huai An gave him a little more depth. He killed Zhang Mo out of jealousy and frustration that Zhang Mo can be free while he cannot. But this doesn't mean he is inherently a bad guy. After learning more about Zhang Mo and his family, he regretted his actions but it's too late. He comes off to me as immature and impulsive but not inherently evil.

The 83 years old thing made me think what if Xiao Wenjing gets back his throne and really become a good emperor in the end? Will he grow to become a good ruler and live a long life? Because I don't see how else he will live till 83 years old unless the prediction is false. I'm interested to see how his character develops. I hope he doesn't become a bad guy and betray Huai An...

Wow I just watched episode 5 and 6 and damn, it's insane. Xie Huai An is ruthless and scary. But I do understand him :') I don't know what the ending of this show will be but I really hope Xie Huai An can be happy (though it's highly unlikely 😭).

Isn’t Qing Yi’s face kind of scary? The shape of the ends of his eyebrows is unusual and the eyebrow area…
Lmao yes I think so too. But that's why he is the perfect actor for the role of Qing Yi 😂 His hoarse voice also acts to the character. I feel creeped out whenever I see and hear him.

It is more revenge now, but I think the political part will come out more in the latter half!

Does An know the funeral man was also Huben soldier ?
Yes! Their relationship is very complicated. He saved him to use him in his revenge but at the same time, he shed a tear for him.

When Huai An was young, the first cup of wine he ever drank was given to him by Pu Nichuan. After his family's downfall, he never drank any wine offered to him by Pu Nichuan. When Pu Nichuan died, he poured the jar of wine onto the ground, which I think was to symbolise that the grudges between them are over?

Reminds me a bit of Nirvana in Fire
Yes!! However, as a massive fan of NiF, I can already tell both shows are very different despite some surface similarities. Very interested to see how this one plays out.

Cheng Yi's haters (aka shrimps) are at it again, they're all giving this drama 1 stars on IMDb. I know the drama…
Well, I have to say I am very impressed that the haters actually keep tabs on Cheng Yi lol. I think some of Cheng Yi's fans don't even know that this drama aired, but the haters are always preparing in advanced. Sometimes I wonder, do they secretly love Cheng Yi, they focus so much attention on him 🤣 Anyways, IMDb has now become a tool. People should not rely on ratings, but watch clips of the show themselves to see if it's their cup of tea!

This drama is the incarnation of Nirvana in Fire. I watched two episodes. The styling, writing, acting, and staging…
Haha however there's already one very big difference between Xie Huai An and Mei Chang Su. They want very different goals.

This drama is insane. Why the heck am I feeling bad for some of the villains???? I just watched episode 4 and I don't know what to feel. The acting of Pu Nichuan's actor was so good. And Cheng Yi's OST was playing in that moment...the feels.

Indeed, Xie Huai An 借刀杀人, just as what he said to Chancellor Gao.

I'm definitely going to have to rewatch the episodes multiple times.

Just a reminder, this drama was cut from 32 episodes to 28 episodes in order to be able to pass censorship and air. With four episodes full of content being cut, there's bound to be some stuff that was not explicitly mentioned but we have to read between the lines...I wonder how brutal the original is for so many episodes to be cut.

Because Huai An's father wont let him took revenge to the poor boy whom his family previously harm the brother.…
Ohhh I see! Wait the family caused harm to the Huai An's uncle? I remember the uncle saying that he saved a man whose wife died and that this family had quite a lot of mouths to feed, but I don't recall how the family caused harm to him. Could you explain to me 😅 I might need to rewatch that part too.

My guess is, Liu Ziyan killed the boy bcz he couldn’t bear to see the little boy eating bamboo dustpan out of…
That was what I initially thought too! But then it doesn't seem like Huai An father would be very angry at this if the uncle had a good heart. I was confused. The censorship took away four episodes full of content making it harder to decipher what's going on 🤣 but thanks for answering!

he was a bully as a kid but this was too much. I hope he get killed in a bad way.
I don't think that will happen. Initially, I thought that too but it seems like the desposed emperor was jealous and very upset that the other guy is free while he is not so he killed him. I don't think the emperor has what it takes to live on as Zhang Mo and Xie Huai An will never let him live as the real Zhang Mo.

I have a question about episode 3. I did not understand what was meant by the Chen Valley incident? What happened? What did Huai An's uncle do that made the Huai An's father angry?
